Do you ever just randomly remember historical Clemson football clunkers?

Like I thought of this one recently. Maryland 13, Clemson 12.
The Terps won on a last second field goal and we only scored 4 Jad Dean FGs.
what are some of your random clunkers than don't necessarily jump out off the top of your head but yet you still recall them?

uSuC ripped us up 56-20 in Columbia in 1971. I think that’s the correct year? They didn’t punt the whole day.

I remember that season. Seems there was an image of the Duke game maybe, where they were attempting a long FG and Willie Jordan was jumping up to block it at the cross bar and it barely went over.
Anyone else remember that one?

That was 1976, my freshman year. I was sitting in the west endzone watching Vince Fusco from Duke make a 58 yard fg as Willie Jordan tried in vain to knock it down as it barely went over the cross bar!!!
Yes, I have a lot of useless memories stuck in my head!!

Sun caused the whole field to look white from my seats low in the end zone in The Roach.
It were the most horrible experience I ever had at a football game. Not likely I would ever forget the year.

That was 1975. I remember it well, sitting in the endzone. Jeff Grantz throwing down to the last play to run it up. That’s why I never feel sorry for those turkeys when we light them up with 60+.

2013 FSU game. Noles 51 Clemson 14 Top 5 match up in the Valley. Probably the worst loss by a home team where College Game Day is broadcasting. Sat through every minute. But also got to sit in Hard Rock a few months later and see us take out Urban and the Buckeyes in the Orange Bowl to wrap up an 11-2 season.

I remember this one vividly as I was there. It was over on the 1st drive I believe when they fumbled the ball. That was an era where the players couldn't get out of their heads when they made mistakes.
We stayed for the whole game and had some random FSU fan who happened to live about about 20 minutes away from me in Central Florida waving his FSU sign at my 6 month old daughter at the time saying instate tuition. Still haunts me to this day!

I had never been more dejected with Clemson football when that happened. I grew up in the 90s so I had heard all of the talk of the glory days but that seemed to be the proof that they were never coming back. We might get close, but climbing the mountain was impossible. Like you said though, little did we know that without that drop we likely would have missed out on all the incredible things that have happened since.

missed 2006 FG against coots, missed 1996 FG against coots, 2003 UGA the whole game but especially Justin Miller getting torched and that horrible no PI call on Whitehurst in the endzone. I remember 2000 GT and 2004 GT collapse.... ugh. I remember Donovan Mcnabb and Syracuse murder-stomping us in the rain in Jacksonville. Watched the whole thing on a crappy box tv with antenna. I remember Steve Tanneyhill. I remember Gurley and Chubb pounding us to death in 2014. If these walls could talk... they would sound like me. I have absorbed everything since the mid 90's from Clemson football. It's all here.

I've got one that had to hurt...
I was at the uga v gt game in 2014. My daughter was an incoming freshman the next year and she was there to meet her roommate.
UGA took a 3 point lead with about a minute or so left in the game...then for some reason squib kicked the kickoff leaving GT basically in field goal range to tie it up.
UGA lost in OT.

The one I was in attendance for...2002 Georgia Florida. We were unbeaten and it was a loud night game. Florida kept running bubble screens over and over and over....all game long. Richt did nothing to adjust. David Greene was doing ok at QB, but Richt chose to sub in DJ Shockley for a spark...then a Florida pick 6 happened.
Still, we were down a TD in the 4th quarter with only a few minutes remaining. Greene throws a perfect bomb to Terrance Edwards streaking down the middle of the field and he flat out drops it. The ball hits him in both hands. We finish the year with that only loss. Miami loses to Oh St in the Championship.
Edwards leads the program in all three major receiving categories: receiving TDs, receptions, and receiving yards. He is also one of only five receivers in SEC history to surpass 3,000 receiving yards in their career.
Unfortunately, he is not remembered for those records.

We also gave up a KR TD and then fumbled near the BC goal line on the following possession.
I just checked the box score and we outgained them 479-322 and still lost. Tommy Bowden specialized in finding creative ways to lose games.
I also remember the next year when we played VT at home and gave up the trifecta of non-offensive TDs in the 1st half. They had a pick-6 and that Macho Harris (I think) guy returned a punt and a KO for a TD. VT scored 41 points and only gained 210 yards the entire game.
Gosh those Bowden years were frustrating.

Sr year, was 2 weeks after the big GT win & Gameday's 1st visit, 1 week after getting embarrassed in Blacksburg.
Had game-winning TD wiped off the board b/c didn't have enough players on the field. & that game ultimately cost that team the Atlantic Division title and ACCCG appearance.
Everything after that GT win was a clunker

AT UGA. Don't remember the year. Don't really care to. I was dating a girl that went Georgia. Reason number one for the erasure. It was one of Hershel's years. It was the first night game in Sanford. And it was unknown whether or not Walker would play. Clemson T-shirts were "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia".
Well, Walker did come into the game. They faked a handoff to him and as 11 Clemson players converged on Hershey Walkon, Tron Jackson was streaking down the other side for a touchdown.
Here I am stuck in the middle of all those red and black pom-poms. It was also the last time I was in Sanford. Or dating that girl.

At 8-0 and a #5 ranking, we then did this:
Oct 28, 2000: (5) Clemson 28, unranked Georgia Tech 31 Nov 4, 2000: (10) Clemson 7, (4) Florida State 54
We rebounded to barely beat SCAR, but then laid a #### egg vs. VT in the Gator Bowl to top it off 20-41.
