Don't think so. That was a prize in a cracker jack box. A check was written here. North Carolina had no room for him. They did not sign him and kept others. Makes you wonder. Anyway, one year and he's gone.

Which we are no stranger to. Our coaches should walk over hot coals for players good enough to be one and done. What if he's not quite ready to go pro after one year?

the guy would have picked USC had FM been retained. Once he reclassified, its a no brainer as he is now going to college a year younger- makes sense to go in your hometown where you have the local/family support. He probably won't be enrolled at the school as soon as their season NIT or regular season is done.

I don't think the one-and-done kind of player helps build a program. Sure, it will generate some buzz, but if he lives up to the billing, he'll have to be replaced in a year, and it's unlikely to be anybody near his caliber. In the mean time, they'd better have some good guys around him. Look, I hate the coots as much as anybody, but their basketball program is the least of my concerns at this point. I am much more concerned with our own.

Just a case of wanting to reclassify and the Heels didn’t have room this year. There’s no way he would have been promised a starting job over Pete Nance. So, it makes sense to go do his NBA audition in hometown Columbia. Don’t look for this to be a trend in that basketball powerhouse.

He was part of the 23 class but now is reclassifying to play this year. Heels do not have room this year. Therefore, he is now in Columbia to play this year.

No, just in envy that a new coach at a program can generate enthusiasm for their program.
Clemson signed its last top 100 recruit 3 years ago, and that didn't generate any buzz to go get some more right after that. boom right out of the gate a new coach at cootville get a 5 star.
Their new coach Lamont Paris already getting interest from some more 4 and 5 star recruits in the next few cycles. Maybe if they land some more then Clemson will decide to do the same...

Time will tell but I think many people are failing to understand that USC got GG basically by default. He had a great summer and feels like he’s going to be NBA ready after this year. Mama wanted him at home. He’s still young. Heels had no room to give him a scholarship or starting spot guarantee. He wanted to go where starting was a given. Staying home in Columbia just made sense for him. (From what I hear he also is getting life changing money). So, before anyone worried about the chickens becoming a basketball power I think we need to tap the brakes.
