All I hear is how bad recruiting is but we are 9 in rivals rankings and 4th in average star rating. I know there are concerns about WR, RB but this board makes it sound like we 50th with a 1.7 rating.
Recruiting junkies what’s the real deal ?

Yea I think recruiting is fine , I do think wr recruiting has fallen off but development is the bigger issue imo

Some of you are mistaken overall talent for the elephant in the room.
I love DJU, buy he's holding this offense back. Period.
That's the biggest issue facing the program right now. Not talent, not playalling, not defense... we need to have better play from the QB, or nothing we do will help.

You are 100 percent correct. I think this offense would be totally different with even above average play. Even game managers like Stetson bennett (who is now more than just a game manager) would make this offense much better

You are correct about WR recruiting. WR recruiting quality went when Jeff Scott left. Say what you like about his skills as a play caller and OC but the boy can flat out recruit when it comes to receivers. Compare his haul to what we have brought in since he left town.......not even close.

Getting recruits that fit our scheme. What the scheme is..... I don't think we know anymore. We seriously are not a zone /read team with DJ. Klubnick, the jury is still out. No speedster on the outside, no Alpha in tbe WR room. So the stars don't really matter if they don't fit the sytem . So it's a talent evaluation issue these days.

Where we used to get around 5-8 top 100 4 star players,
We are now getting top 150-400 4 star players.
They are still 4 star players, just not the quality we used to get.
I think 1 yr we had like 4 top 15 players
So yes, we are still getting 5 stars, just not the top dog 4 stars

Look at the offensive skill positions over the last few years. That’s where we are struggling.
Defensive recruiting is still elite but this is an offensive game. If you can’t score you don’t win NC. We will continue to be a 10, 11, 12 win team but if we want to get back to 14-1 or 13-2 we need offense.

Agree. #9 recruiting is plenty good if the goal is to win the ACC. Not good enough to consistently hang out in elite circles, though.

ON3 and 247 use a better average ranking system based on a 100 point player scale. Clemson is ranked 11th in player average in ON3 and 247. If you want to use the Rivals system, Clemson has only 1 player ranked 6.0 or higher. 6.0 is a high 4 star and 6.1 is a 5 star. Compare that to the previous 5 years:
2022 had 2 players ranked 6.0 or higher
2021 had 5 players ranked 6.0 or higher
2020 had 9 players ranked 6.0 or higher
2019 had 3 players ranked 6.0 or higher
2018 had 7 players ranked 6.0 or higher
