I think we go 5-3 in those games. If I had to guess right now, we lose to ND, FSU, and Miami.

I see 3 to 4 losses as well, if Streeter is still the OC. This is also due to the elimination of divisions and I see a loss in the ACCCG. These are as follows:
1. FSU- yes we are passing the torch. It starts next year unfortunately. FSU beats us in the regular season then in the ACCCG. 2 losses right there.
2. ND- I think ND beats us especially with Hartman.
3. We will drop another one in addition to these somewhere along the line. I just hope it is not to SC again.
So there you go. 3 to 4 losses. I have lost all faith in Streeter and Wes did little with quite a bit of talent. The defense looked soft this year as compared to the BV defenses.

I thought last night was encouraging for next year. Cade is a stud. We moved the ball up and down the field. We have to finish drives but that will come.

I agree, we looked impressive last night. We looked like a different team, liked the fake FG, it just came up a yard short. Wish he would have lateraled the ball. We had the Vols defense sucking wind and maybe should have kept it on the ground inside the red zone. We were pretty good on getting 3 and outs, making Vols punt 8 times. Lot of positives. We’ll be fine next year, but unfortunately so will Miami, FSU, N Dame and USuCK.

100% agree. Even if our coaching fails him (which I agree can improve, but isn’t as bad as some here believe), I think he will self-correct a lot of his mistakes watching his own film.

That is a worst case scenario IMO. Depending on who returns, I don’t see this team taking a step back from this year.
Miami needs to prove something before I’m ready to think they passed us. Sure, they are bringing in better talent, but we whipped them with a similar type team last year.
ND is TBD and FSU is definitely trending up, but not to the point I’m putting them as the conference favorite yet. I’m sure they will be the “surprise” trendy pick by everyone in the pre-season.
I think we drop 1-2 games, including ACC championship, but wouldn’t at all be shocked if we run the table either. (Regular season)
We got dudes coming back too.
Keep the faith!

We definitely got worse, especially defensively. Last years team went 10-3 with 20+ injuries. If that team stayed healthy, they probably go 11-2 with an ACC title and another trip to the Orange Bowl. Or we would have gone 12-1 and gotten blown out in the playoffs.

Not ready to predict less than 10 wins just yet. ND and FSU might be toss up games but the rest should be double digit spreads or close to it. 11-1 fsu vs 11-1 Clemson in Charlotte to determine a playoff spot would be fun.

Sam Hartman is a great QB and ND’s OL/RBs are going to impose their will on our defense.
FSU’s roster will probably be as good as ours. And they have a better coaching staff.

I feel pretty doom and gloom but Sam Hartman a great QB? He is pedestrian who was part of a wacky scheme that got him some decent numbers but he is nothing special. He also falls apart under pressure. Anyone who throws 5 picks in a quarter to Louisville this year is not an elite QB.

Being great in college is different than being a pro. He’s undersized and doesn’t have a big enough arm to be a pro because the margin for error is so much smaller. Those inefficiencies don’t matter as much in college. He’s a great college QB.

I agree he’s a great college qb in that wake scheme. He probably will have better receivers at wake than ND so it’ll be interesting to see how he handles that. A 1-1 split in nd and fsu games seems likely. There’s a good chance another team pulls an upset but the talent advantage over duke, unc, u of sc, should be enough to win. Syracuse loses a lot, nc state should be middle of the pack and Miami is again in wait and see mode. It’ll be a long 9 months for sure.

This is such a dumb question. Every team we lose to has several starters from the portal, especially at key positions.
Clemson has holes that we need to fill. There are a bunch of transfer portal players that would start for us or make some contributions.
WR (losing Ngata, EJ, Dacari, Drew): Dominic Lovett, RaRa Thomas
TE (losing Davis, Price): Jaheim Bell, Trey Knox
OT (losing McFadden): Javion Cohen, Jeremiah Byers, Tommy Brockermeyer, Myles Hinton
DE (losing Myles, KJ, XT): Dasan McCullough, Josaiah Stewart
DT (losing Bresee, Davis, Ruke): Braden Fiske
LB (losing Trenton, Bentley, Sergio): Ernest Hausman, Justin Flowe
CB (losing Sheridan, Fred): Travis Hunter, Fentrell Cypress, Duce Chestnut, JQ Hardaway, Tony Grimes
S (losing Jayln): Ja’Had Carter
We could fill holes with veterans that are future NFL draft picks. Instead, we are going to have to rely on young, inexperienced players. And we’ll need to hope that our mediocre coaching staff can develop them. Good ####### luck with that.

Because we almost did it this season. We also a played a bunch of young guys. The O will be way stronger next year. We had 5 true freshman on the field on offense at times. Wooodaz will get stronger on D, as will our freshman DBs. The ACC also sucks, so 10-2 with the bowl to being determined.

Outside of that they are no better. Sam Hartman is not going to work miracles at ND, Miami is Miami they have such a culture problem they will never get that fixed again, UNC same team, NCst is not better they lost there QB, Duke really we are scared of Duke now? Is coaching here a problem yes I think Dabo jumped the gun on his hires last year because he really wanted to initiate his ultimate goal which is to cultivate coaches like he does players. Next year will determine if Dabo is going to have to make a change but it won’t be because we went 7-5.

Quite possible. Puts things in perspective, even if 10-2. I expect the offense to improve. The defense will take a step back unless a few key starters/co-starters decide to return. If Ruke and/or Bresee return, along with KJ and a healthy XT, then we have a CHANCE to run the table.

Definitely can benefit by some defensive returnees with exception of Mascoll. We are certainly missing something and believe coaching is a big part of it. Streeter not calling more runs in first half is an obvious outage.
It also seems like there must be something regarding lack of hard work, focus, etc. Our recruiting with exception to maybe WR hasn’t been much different than 5-6 years ago. If anything, OL recruiting has probably slightly improved. As mentioned by others, player development is really suffering.
There are some success stories like KJ Henry, but many have stayed the same or gone in reverse.
I do think the WR’s had tended to give up with DJ knowing they’d never see the ball. That could be a bright spot with the Cade era, but let’s see.
I think with the right assistant coaching changes, we could be back, but without as mentioned above, it’s probably more of the same. Don’t think we go to 7-5, 6-6 level.

My thoughts: 10-2 (12-0 ceiling and 7-5 floor)
Dec 31, 2022, 12:38 PM
|
|
Home: Charleston Southern, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Florida State
Away: Duke, Syracuse, NC State, Miami, South Carolina
My prediction: 9-3 and a Cheez-It bowl appearance.
I tend to be more optimistic.
I think going 12-0 is not out of the realm of possibility. That said, I'm also realistic enough to say we could go 6-6 or 7-5 pending some terrible breaks (injuries, in-season opt outs, inept coaching woes continuing, team focus continuing to be an issue, etc).
If I had to make a prediction today with no new information (like who's coming back, opposing team news, etc), I'd say 10-2 with an ACC Championship appearance -- Holiday/Gator/Cheese It/Mayo Bowl or Orange Bowl
Current toss ups: FSU, SC, ND Potential Surprise toss ups: Duke, Miami, Syracuse, NC State
The last couple of years Clemson has played it's best at home (minus the rivalry game this year). I think the trend continues and it helps we get FSU and ND visiting us -- I think we get 1 of the 2 and go 6-1 in the Valley.
On the road, our results have been mixed and it's not encouraging. Wouldn't be surprised if we dropped one or two away games as it appears we've almost regressed to a Jekyll and Hyde team where we don't know which team is showing up each week. (4-1 and hopefully that L isn't to SC.)
I feel like the defense will be good enough to keep us in every game and the offense will improve. We'll be a good team again (top 10-15) but probably not a playoff team.
This year's team was like one of the better Tommy Bowden teams if they won an ACC championship. Next year could be more of the same.
