2016 cfp committee selections
Dec 2, 2023, 9:58 PM
|
|
Everyone seems to be forgetting what happened in 2016.
Penn State won the big 10 conference championship. They were ranked, I believe, above OSU, but it was OSU that made the playoff, not PSU.
OSU was considered to be a better team than PSU. OSU had the loss early in the season. However, the point is this.... The committee decided to pick a team OVER a team that was a conference champion. They can, and probably will, pick someone over fsu, even if fsu wins. Without their best QB, they are not a top 4 team.

So you even know what you are arguing in favor of? If so, kindly state it because I think you'll realize I your statement was more the product of trying to make yourself look good at someone else's expense.

Ok. Again
FSU could win tonight. They would be undefeated. They look horrible. They aren't a top 4 team.
In 2016, OSU was considered the better team than PSU, even though PSU was conference champion.
If FSU wins tonight, they will still be left out, because they don't look like a top 4 team.
And because there is sec bias, FSU will be left out
Who am I trying to make look bad? No one.

Totally new committee now. No one that was on the 2016 committee is on this one.

Of course the committee is different. The point is that there is a precedent.

It even looks like Penn State had two losses not just one. So no comparison at all.

It does relate. Penn St was the conference champion, but was left out. Anyone claiming that a conference champion is automatic is completely wrong. FSU could win and not make it.

no, we're claiming a 2-loss conference champ won't get any consideration, just like Bama wouldn't have if they had lost to Auburn. This is completely different, not even close

Not even close to being a good comparison. The committee was left comparing a 2 loss conference champion against a 1 loss runner up. They chose the team with only 1 loss. If FSU wins, they are an UNDEFEATED POWER 5 CONFERENCE CHAMPION being compared to a one loss conference champion.

I guess we will see. Everyone wants to claim a conference champion is an automatic, but it isn't. Penn State won, but because the committee believed OSU was better, they put them in. FSU, even if they win, looks horrible with #3 QB. FSU could win, be undefeated, and my money is they will be left out.

Penn State was 11-2 and Ohio State was 11-1. If PSU was 12-1 they would’ve been in over them without question
