I didn't watch the video but we were there and I remember the great call on the screen pass. Back then, I really thought Tommy West would be the man.

I first got into Clemson football in Tommy West's first year as I got into football due to the major league baseball strike of 1994. Being a child then going into middle school, I had the impression that he was an alright coach. Before that season, I read a Clemson magazine at my dad's house that said "Let's Roar into 94". My dad and many on his side of the family as well are avid Clemson fans.
Every bowl Tommy West got his team into, he never win. I recalled listening to that bowl game against Syracuse on my Sony boombox, and it was not a good game at all. It had to be one of the worst bowl losses in Clemson football history. He got close to making a bowl in 1994 as they improved in the latter part of that season, from what I recalled, but they got routed by the coots.

We got bailed out of the interception and fumble, but yeah, gave us hope that the West era would be great one.

I was there. Almost froze to death because of the wind. Who knew the wind blew indoors? Probably trying to vent stink the Kentucky fans.

Little did we know back then that it would be the high point in his tenure.

The things I remember most about that game...

|
1 - My wife and I were expecting our first child literally any day, and while her doctors discouraged her from attending, she said she felt great and still wanted to go. So...we did. Our daughter would be born six days later.
2 - Two of the six people with us got arrested outside of the Georgia Dome for re-selling tickets, at or below face value, too close to the event venue. The tickets were confiscated and they were issued citations.
