If you know a Clemson student or are currently one trying to break into the media business, please ready this.

Navigating the media world as a student at Clemson was always tricky. I had so many questions, and sometimes, didn't have the right resource or right people in my corner.

Most of the time however, I was blessed with mentors like David Hood who had ALL the answers. Still, finding who I wanted to be and what steps to take were another puzzle piece.

I, along with several others, am looking to change that at Clemson. I'm excited to partner with Faxon Childress and Dr. Sam Hakim on what will be the start of an alumni mentorship program for the Sports Communication department at Clemson.

The hope is Faxon and I's experience, paired with Dr. Hakim's relentless pursuit of excellence, will bring together a program that has the answers and resources needed to be successful...or at the very least, help someone break in and realize a dream.

This is incredibly important to the three of us, and I'm asking the TigerNet community to do its magic, and help spread the word.

There is a Zoom interest meeting at 5 PM on Thursday, May 1st. The email to RSVP is sdhakim@clemson.edu

Thank you all!

That's great! Thank you.

I remember the business school used to bring in local entrepreneurs to speak to students. It was always valuable to hear their perspective and to connect with them.

Clemson grad Jane Robelot at WYFF would be a great one to contact to speak to students about broadcasting. If I'm not mistaken I believe she was an economics grad and hosted the Tiger Tailgate show on radio before going to WSPA and working up to being the anchor/host of the CBS Morning Show in NY.

Good idea. Very good. Would encourage your curriculum to include a brushup on the English grammar. “Me and Mickey” - all these WCCP guys need help. Your intro - using I …. Faxon and I experience- these aren’t so much your fault just reflection of where we are in education system. National guys don’t make these mistakes.
Tim B can help too.
