Raising up a Clemson fan.

Long story, but I think you'll like it.

Every Wednesday afternoon my church does an afternoon Bible class at a local school. Ages K-5. (It's called Good News Club, if you are familiar with it.)

Well, we have a couple of kids who are in pre-K, so you can imagine their attention span. One kid just couldn't keep still, so he became my 1 on 1 responsibility. I sat him down and gave him a picture to color. I just picked 3 crayons out of the box. He gave me the green one back and kept the other two. Just so happened they were purple and orange. He colored for about 1 minute and was no longer interested.

Not to be deterred, I said, "Those are pretty colors. Do you know what school has those colors?" Of course he didn't. I said, "Clemson." He looked and me and said, not asked, "Clemson." So, I went on line and went to the Clemson NIL store and started scrolling through jerseys. I finally found one that was purple with broad orange stripes on the sleeve. He looked at that and started trying to draw it with his two crayons.

That kept him busy for at least 15 minutes. He was enjoying trying to draw with those two colors. He has a brother in the second grade. The brother came over to check on him. I showed him the jersey on the phone. I asked him if he knew what school that jersey was from. He didn't. I said, "Clemson." His eyes lit up and he said, "Clemson! My mommy and daddy are going to Clemson this week." I asked what for and he said "To see a football game."

So, I asked, "Did your mom and dad go to Clemson?" He said they didn't. So I asked him why they were going to watch Clemson play football. He replied, very seriously, "It has been a lifelong dream of theirs."

The 4 year old took his scribbling held it up proudly and said, "Clemson!"
