How can randall be running routes uninhibited by knee?
Aug 22, 2022, 2:50 PM

What’s it been 4 months? 5? I look at ronald acuna with the braves and it took him the better part of a year to get back on the field and he’s had some problems. I mean really, if randall is actually doing that well . . . well it’s freakin miraculous. Please let that kid’s knee be ok.
Sounds like offense is in a great spot. Tigers are gonna roll!!!

There are different grades of ACL tears

I do remember hearing that Randall's tear, while bad, was as best case scenario how it tore and how well the surgery went. From the jump, he seemed to be ahead of benchmarks with regards to therapy timelines.
I also think the Doctors at Clemson have gotten VERY good at the ACL surgeries, given the amount of practice they had the last few years.
I would also speculate they are using PRP as studies have shown surgeries with PRP generate healing up to 60 percent faster in ACL repairs than surgeries without it.

Maybe his tear was not as bad as Acuna’s. I’m gonna assume that has to be the case. I can’t imagine that our guys would be getting better medical treatment than an mlb team with a nearly $200 million a year payroll.
Had to google prp. I’d think all these athletes are getting that these days.
Can’t wait to see the kid play. Hopefully, the upperclassmen are killing it, and there’s no need to rush

Exactly right. Randall is laying his body on the line every single day (metaphorically but soon literally) to just sniff what those Bubble Gum chewing softies make.

Rookie ACL surgeon here, what’s PRP?

To rookie surgeon, it is platelet rich plasma. You get the product by using a cell saver to salvage blood lost on the field except the cell saver has a different tubing pack. There are also machines that only do the PRP thing. It separates the blood into the PRP. We used it in heart surgery around the grafts and on the sternum as we put it back together. Ortho uses it for many purposes. Get one of the sales reps to bring in a machine for you to tryout. You will need the dedicated machine instead of a cell saver because your blood loss is minimal compared to cardia surgery.

Obviously the doctors are driving that boat as to when he can play contact. Acuna wasn't even contact either. So yes, I agree, miraculous. Definitely no reason to rush him back. Haven't heard much from Taylor, Spector, or D Collins.
Great news about Blake. Has the look of wanting to knock someone down. Was excited when he committed and more excited now.
I understand what Streeter says about Cade and different packages/plays etc but I'm not a fan of bringing in a QB to run. We've got 3 studs that can run. I see a lot of teams that do that and it rarely works... Takes all of one play to realize that's why QB x is in the game. Rotate qbs, fine, but let them run the whole offense.

I could be wrong, but it kind of sounds like a good excuse to get Klubnik in the game without it feeling like much of a threat to DJ. Should he excel on those plays, they may give him an expanded role and then who knows. I'd like to think that DJ is going to step up this year and I hope he does, but good to get Klubnik game reps any way they can.

Bingo. They will give Cade ample opportunity to establish himself with the team, fans, and media. I'm sure it was a smoother transition in the locker room having Lawrence go out and prove, in critical game series, that he was the better QB.

Media won’t get to know him and neither will we unless we personally converse with him. True Fresh don’t speak with the media unless your name is TL and ur in the CFP.

Wrong. Maybe in the 80's, but now: Disgruntled fans = significant negative social media posts = negative player morale = broken locker room = poor play on the field.
We are talking about young men in their teens or barely 20s who have grown their entire lives being influenced by what they see online. To think that even the most incoherent ramblings of outraged fans doesn't in some way influence the emotions/thoughts of these young men would be very naive.

I agree with that on the overwhelming majority of issues (ex. direct snap under center), but a coach as smart and EXTREMELY detailed as Dabo definitely considers how his locker room might be influenced by outside sources. It's one of the reasons he tried to keep players off social media during the season.
Take last year. Numerous people were pleading for Phommachanh to start over DJ and Dabo was adamant that DJ was "our best shot". Eventually Dabo pulled DJ and put Phommachanh in who promptly had a lackluster series and got pulled back out. Almost as though proving to everyone what he had been saying all along.

I think he was just trying to add contrast to their abilities . The QB run game is an integral part of Clemson’s offense and every elite QB since Tahj Boyd has played an important role in the run game.

It’s hard to believe that not too awfully long ago, a severe ACL injury was pretty much the end of your playing career, or at least a year+ of recovery time.
Now, we see guys coming back in a matter of months.
Looks like Adam Randall will play a lot this year. Great news!

Amari Rogers reminder - in reference to possibly getting Randall back! Positive. Cade - DJU - good program problems to have. Positive.
It's a great day to be a Clemson Tigers Football fan!

You notice they rarely ever talk about DJs accuracy. That leads me to believe the talk about running options for the quarterback is away to make sure that Cade sees the field often and quickly, without ruffling any feathers. And, the proof will be for everybody to see.

QB Play

I am getting the feeling that the coaches know how this is going to end up. Stating that Cade moves better in the pocket and runs better on the edge tells me all that I need to know. DJ has his starting position in his own hands. I honestly do not know if he has the talent to remain the starter. I am pulling for him.

In theory...you have the same great OL that protects whoever the signal caller is.
In theory, whichever QB has the same amount of opportunity to make the same read/bomb or scamper for it depending on their individual skillsets.
No reason an offense of our caliber (counting on Streeter here) should not have two or three game packages ready to utilize the strengths of both/either QBs. Heck we had Jumbo Packages for CW42.
Long story short *beating dead horse again here* we gotta stop with this cross-training on the O-Line. Whichever QB on the play needs to know who has is back (odd this is Right Tackle/Guard discussion, though). I'm just saying, if you can roster (10) O-Line guys, doesnt it make sense to have (2) Centers, (4) Guards, and (4) tackles?
The left-tackle is obviously the most important, but it's not like a D-Line where we can run stunts and change-ups.
Sorry. I just don't get the cross-training at all, which might be a poor opinion on my part.

Just my two cents:
1. Prepare multiple dudes to adequately if not outstandingly fill rolls in case of injury. 2. See how a guy actually performs at a position. Lots are recruited at a position where they don’t pan out, but shine elsewhere. 3. Allows players to understand assignments and realize automatically what a DL shift/stunt means to the dudes on their left and right.
Saying this, (barring injury) once the season starts, they should focus on their position. Particularly, the 2 deep.

The RT/RG talk was finding a freshman that can be a starter and asking the current (good) RT to move to guard. Therefore having the “best 5” starting. In this scenario and perfect world, the QB should never worry about “who has his back”. They all do as you never know where the pressure will come from. Not always the right DE.

I appreciate your take on this, particularly with the where recruited vs where talented part.
Just to split hairs, all I'm trying to say as a guy that personally barely knows his left from his right...I think it would be more beneficial from a 'muscle memory' sense for guys to come into fall camp knowing they are RG1/RG2 etc.
I firmly believe that there is plenty of training time before Fall Camp to swap guys around to test them out, and I firmly believe the type of OL-men we recruit are also highly dedicated/intelligent and watch film and can conceptualize multiple positions as needed.
From my perspective, it's kind of seems like the strategy is "all of our guys are 85% anywhere on the O-Line" as opposed to 3 or 4 studs at their spot that can compensate for the remaining injury/weak spot(s). It's great we can repair a leaky boat, but what if we don't have too?
Obviously Center is a whole different beast, and injuries do happen, but if it was me I would want to practice one spot, every gap, every play, every shift, every time.
But then again, as stated, I have troubles with left and right already, LOLz.

I guess we disagree when that permanence should happen. I’m fine with flexibility going into fall just because of the practice rules. Looking at last season our OL looked better late season because in my opinion we decided to focus on run. That removed a lot of “is the QB running or throwing” doubt. Simplified, they just focused on road grading. This year and beyond we need an OL that can do both and be adept at the RPO offense. Best 5 regardless. Hence my reply below regarding “dumb” guards.

The guard has to do all that pulling and trap blocking. He has to be more mobile than the tackle.

will happen very early in the season. It seems as if Cade could get planned 1st half playing time against GaTech.
He's clearly being groomed to take over. DJ is more of a placeholder than a starter and everyone knows it.

It's an insurance in case DJ is injured or....is playing poorly. Work Cade in early and often. If he does end up being the starter for whatever reason, it will be easier for him and the team. Streeter's words also imply Cade is performing well at practice as we figured. Last year is on everyone's mind.

Amazing that the fans take what he said and try to read more into it?! Coach Street and Dabo both have all the confidence in DJ as the starter and fully expect him to shine in the games as he has in practice. Cade has speed and Coach Street said he runs better than DJ in certain situations, that did not say that DJ's days are numbered and Cade is being prepared to start. The question was will there be a package installed special for Cade's skillset? Ans Coach Streeter replied depends on how the offense is performing! That means simply if Clemson has a comfortable lead then we see Cade, if not hmmmmm. For the fans pining for Cade feel no anxiety, DJ is gonna have this offense scoring points as he did in 2020, so Cade should be able to garner many snaps! Go Tigers!
