I disagree that the GOP nominee is preordained. We haven’t even had the first primary…all it takes is for a few folks to come to their senses and leave Trump behind. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Exactly. Whoever they get on the ticket aside from Trump will beat Biden. Biden has a chance due to Trump.

Yeah. I’m to point where, if we can’t do better than an 81 year old bumbling clown and a dude who probably owns the better 1/2 of 91 indictments, we deserve whatever we get. Both parties should aim 10 stories higher.

Trump has ZERO discipline and caves to his narcissistic ego EVERY F**king time... He literally has no brain filter with the ability to stop, step back, and think for just 30 seconds that perhaps giving in to his stream of consciousness vitriol is "not a good idea"...
FFS - how did we come to a place where our choices to lead the USA are between a whiny, ego driven man-child and a brain dead, corrupt leftist puppet??

This is a scary moment for the US. We are on the brink of WWIII and the choices to lead the free world are between a man who is obviously unstable and a man who shakes invisible hands. I just pray someone can step up in the Primary and beat Trump. I really don't like any of the other choices that much either, but any would be better than those two.

What's scary is thar there is still the primary and we don't to have Biden or Trump, but Trump's cult is making so we only have those two options.

Haley's not perfect but she's got the chance to be pretty good, IMHO.
We've got a truly monumental-scale flood of industry reshoring in the US. Not only will Nikki not derail that train, she'll go out of her way to grease the rails - we saw that big-time in South Carolina - and she's no culture warrior and does the Stable Mom thing really well.
That could be really good for the US: manufacturing jobs flooding back in - along with massive foreign investment looking to cash in on that boom - and sanity and zero drama from above even as money pours back into the working class after decades of globalism drain. That would go a long way towards cooling the political temperature here in the US. What insulates countries from extremist silliness is a successful middle class; when Average Joe is making money and doing great he'll be at work rather than out on the street starting sh!t.
I think America will find itself quite shocked how far basic competence and lack of drama from above can take us, especially with the arrow on US industry now pointed straight upwards.

Every day there’s a half dozen or so links on this Board to to extreme libs who say stupid chit. Dems have had their extremists since ‘68 and maybe there’s an acclimation factor. But when it’s the Pubs main guy on Christmas, it makes you wonder about his mental stability and those who willingly follow and vote for him. These are the rants of insanity. And combined with the events of J6, show a willingness to destroy the American democratic norms. Once those norms are gone, increasing polarization amongst the electorate and potentially national demise will follow.
Biden and the Dems are far from having an ideal agenda. But even a minority of Pubs are more likely to mitigate that agenda than a minority of Dems are to mitigate the instability of a second Trump administration.

and lose elections left and right, but he fights. I suppose — outside of the fact that MAGAism has cost the GOP scores of winnable seats in the House and Senate, surrendering Congress to the Democrats rather than backing objectively better, non-MAGA candidates — a detachment from basic standards of morality and leadership could be a strength if it allowed them to be ruthless in winning elections, but as I just said, that hasn't happened. Plus, a Machiavellian mentality is not exactly in line with "born again" ethics. Or, rather, did not used to be.

That's the other justification, but it requires forgetting about Trump's policy initiatives like gun control, funding abortion, skyrocketing debt, reauthorizing Deep State powers, anti-capitalist tariffs, etc.
You mostly end up with some deregulation (low hanging fruit), tax cuts that went un-offset (easy, stupid), and Executive orders on the border that were as temporary as his time in the White House.

Totally agree Trump is not fit to be the POTUS. Biden outwardly appears to be a congenial sort, but he too is unfit to be POTUS.
I don’t understand the Trump voter loyalty, but I also don’t understand why Dems cling to a man not mentally fit to be in the Oval Office.
Why hasn’t the Dem Party moved on also?
It’s the equivalent of not taking the keys away from Gramps when everyone knows he shouldn’t be driving.
I honestly don’t understand how we are heading to a Biden-Trump rematch.
I will not waste my vote on either of them if that’s the choice we ultimately are given.

It's not like the Dems are "clinging" to Biden as much as there isn't anyone stepping up to challenge him. It's not like the Dems are choosing between Biden or a NHaley type candidate. The pubs, OTOH, are outright rejecting sanity and choosing buffoonery over other quality candidates that have stepped up.

private that Biden needs to be swapped for someone younger. The only reason the party is ok with him running is that he is the incumbent and he chose to run, so it’s really hard to supersede that with another candidate. Very few people are big Biden fans.
Everyone would support him not running again, but since he chose to, the party really has no choice but to support him.

So Joe's desires supersede what's best for the country? The answer amongst the Dems is apparently yes.I totally am opposed to Trump, but am equally opposed to a mentally diminished octogenarian part time President.

opposes him and supports another candidate, there will still be a chunk of voters that will vote for him because he is the incumbent and has name recognition. This would be enough people to split the Dem vote and hand Pubs the election. So it’s either lose for sure by opposing him, or support him and hope he wins, reasoning that result is better for the party than Trump winning.
