Probably get flamed for this post

Nov 27, 2022, 1:04 PM

But defensively we have underperformed all season. Murphy has become one of the laziest players on that side of the ball. Constantly loafing. Bresee isn’t much better but gets a pass because he has had a lot of off field things going on which is totally understandable that his focus hasn’t been completely on football. Mukuba…regressed. Was not good this year. Not all on Goodwin, but with the talent we have on defense they should’ve been MUCH better. All fire left with Venables.

Henry, Ruke, and Trotter have been awesome and played hard and with tons of heart.

The defense has been ranked in the to 20 in all of college football all year.

Against inferior competition.

Easy to be ranked playing ACC teams. Same reason our record looks better than the team actually is. And anywhere outside of the top 5 with the talent on that side of the ball is not great.

The D played complimentary football most of the day. Scored a TD and a safety and gave the offense the ball around 3 times in the 4th quarter to win or put the game away. The offense failed miserably against a bad defense when it mattered most. But you do you.

I didn’t say the defense was at fault yesterday

Nov 27, 2022, 1:33 PM

I was stating that they underperformed all season long. Which is a true statement based on preseason expectations. Maybe reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit.

The lack of productivity from the offense the last two years has hurt defensive rankings. They’ve been sent out time after time on three and outs by the stench of our offense under #5. They have worn down and gotten injured from having to play too much in high leverage situations. You can’t look at one without looking at the other. Comprende?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This I agree with. Good points.

Nov 27, 2022, 1:39 PM

.

The have been on the field way too often bc our offense is so inept.

To add some stats to back that up, here's the ypg offense rank for our opponents:

FSU 14th
WF 29th
L'ville 56th
LaTech 65th
ND 76th
SC 77th
Miami 88th
Syr 89th
NCSt 103rd
GaTech 113th
BC 120th
Furman n/a (24th in FCS fwiw)

We're 22nd in yards per game allowed (24th in yards per play, 27th in points per game). We're not "bad", but definitely been a disappointment and agree we should have a top 5 defense, top 10 at worst, with that schedule and our supposed talent. Our rank the previous 8 years: 8th, 15th, 6th, 5th, 4th, 8th, 10th, 1st

Looks like we are 28th on the lists right now behind Louisville, Florida State and NCState from the ACC.

I will not flame you for these comments, but more than likely you missed the most important underperformance of not only this year but last. The "DJ is my guy" ego lost us that game yesterday.

I will definitely agree with the list of players that have consistently showed up this year. I think our safeties and DB’s need to be a little better as well. If we do not get pressure on the QB it usually does not turn out well. Good not great.

I agree 100%. Mukuba has been terrible, Murphy just doesn't hustle, Bresee is not a force inside at all.

Mukuba has certainly disappointed this year. But he can learn and get better going forward. Same can be said for most of the team. Complacency seems the overall factor. Not sure i agree with the laziness term though.

These guys are all first-round NFL draft picks… so evidently it doesn’t matter that they chronically underachieve in actual football games at Clemson. Their “measurable” are all that matter. ?

Breese came in too heavy this year IMHO .

IMO I have to give him a pass because of all the off field and illnesses he has had this year, but the bottom line is it has kept him from ever getting into “mid-season” form physically.

My only counter is the offense really never helped them all year and put them in alot of crappy positions.

No flame from me. The D isn’t as in bad of shape as the O, but still been underwhelming for the most part. Especially against decent to good teams.

Honestly happy someone else has noticed the lack of production from Myles. If I’m an OC I’m running at him every time bc of his lack of discipline. Watching him and other position players (cornerback especially) start every week, let’s me know we don’t have the depth at any position to make the necessary changes. Dabo and staff have got to start recruiting better and offering more kids
