Hydration is an awesome beverage choice for any athlete. Speaking of Prime, Deion Sanders is eating some humble pie and he deserves every crumb of it. Here are the following reasons why I’ve enjoyed watching him implode:
1.) He arrived in Colorado and stripped the scholarships from more than 90% of the young men who actually committed their heart, mind, and body to the Colorado program.
2.) He ushered in replacements from the portal who weren’t committed to the team, but were committed to self through the perception of more or immediate playing time.
3.) Based upon the results, it’s easy to see that Prime and his staff did very little to develop the team for on field success.
The result: Colorado ended up with a selfish coach, a selfish team, and an unfortunate win/loss record. More importantly, he wasted alumni hopes, dreams, and money on his employment with the school. Sadly, whenever he abandons the dumpster fire 🔥 he’s created he will be hired by another desperate program that will receive a similar fate. I can think of no better school than Syracuse for the way they treated Coach Babers.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate that we have a staff full of great coaches who coach based upon morals, values, and principles rather than a reckless abandon to win at all cost.
Results driven coaching does not produce results you want. Instead, purpose driven coaching will almost certainly guarantee the results you work for.

I truly couldn't give a crap about Sanders. He was a great player, but is a flash-in-the-pan as a coach.

Extremely good post. However, Prime is just a passing fad who has, sadly, left destruction, broken players' hearts, disillusioned fans, and empty wallets and coffers. No doubt he was a great player in his time in a uniform but he should not be considered and asset to the University of Colorado. He will move on sooner than later. So, nothing to see here.

He's overhyped. But they are 4-7 and were competitive in most games.

Last year they went 1-11 and lost by an average of 30 points.

They also lost 4 games by 7 points or less. Had they split those, they would be in a bowl game which would have been crazy. Losing a 29 point halftime lead to Stanford was an absolute killer.
I'm not a big fan of Deion as a person but to have this team competitive in 8 out of 11 games so far is pretty remarkable. Without some key injuries, they might easily have made a bowl game. He needs to amp up the talent on defense to take another step.
From the administration perspective, I'm guessing they are pretty happy. Colorado came back into the national consciousness, the home games were well attended, recruiting is more stable, and the beginnings of a turnaround have been established.
I'm not sure they could have expected much more in the first year from where they started.

It's not pretty remarkable. He was only able to do it because he brought in a bunch of guys from the transfer portal. Most of the players from last year's tram are gone. If he had done something that had improved the same group of players, that would be impressive. Bringing in a whole new group of handpicked guys to win 4 games isn't impressive.

Do you really think the administration brought him in to maintain the status quo from a 1-11 team that lost by an average of 26 points and had the 126th out of roughly 130 worst offenses? They clearly wanted to make a significant change and get things started now, rather than wait several years to become relevant again. Also, 45+ of the portal guys were 3* or less so he still had quite a bit of development to do to get them working together and competing.
And you're right in one respect, if he could have brought the bad news bears back to prominence without having to change any of the players then he would be walking on water. However, that only happens in the movies.

You are not at all following what I'm saying.
What I'm saying is, going 4-7 after bring in a bunch of portal players is not impressive. Beyond that, it in no way indicates that he is on course to bring any better players than what he brought in this year.
There is no indication that he can go to the portal next year, and bring in a bunch of 5 star players. There's also no indication that he is going to bring in a bunch of 5 star high school recruits either. This narrative is going around without actual evidence to back it up.
So far, Sanders has improved by 3 wins. That's no better than Tommy Bowden did in 1999 (3-8 to 6-6).

ESPN has finally stopped pumping him but it took a long time. Enjoyed watching Neon eating humble pie as his team was stomped last week. Hope Colorado did not give him a contract like A&M gave Jimbo.

Technically, as much NIL money invested and as many experienced players he exploited from the portal, Colorado should have won the National Championship or at the very least been part of the discussion up until this point in the season.
To answer your questions from your comment I will leave you with some words of wisdom, “Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.”

betting against him through the years. I'm not prepared to lose more now. It took Swinney a while to build something--and he arguably had a lot more to work with out of the gate. Cant see why Colorado would expect Sanders to work wonders in Y1.

You may not approve of the methods, and it may or may not pan out long term, but no one can seriously argue that this year hasn't been a success for Sanders and the program.
As for portal players, they all want more playing time. They are football players. Wanting to play hardly seems like a lack of committment.

To be fair, what was there didn’t win a ballgame the previous year or maybe 1. I don’t care enough about that school to bother looking it up. That said they did pull off an excellent upset, win some games and still have the season to finish out. I bet he flushes more out this year while he’s bringing in his recruits and keeps them on an upward trajectory. 5 wins this year (maybe) and 6-7 next would be good. If he can get an 8 win season out of them in 3-4 years it will go down as a success.
Fans are excited, attendance is up, these are all good metrics on what was a dead in the water program

I also don't like he gutted the schollys. And his guys he "brought with him" as replacements aren't world beaters as he built them to be. That's just Prime Speak. *shrugs*
But I do not understand what you mean by what Syracuse did to Babers? Babers has a program losing record. Who wants to keep a coach who can't win? Not Clemson for sure, so why would you opionion another program shouldn't try to better themselves by releaving a coach of his duties?

For me, I have no emotional involvement with the subject.
my subjective opinion (let’s be honest - no opinion is objective) - the season will be a success. Deion is a Fight Promoter, CEO, Head Coach, and PT Barnum wrapped up in one.
Be mad (or happy with the failure perception you have) at the Colorado AD and Administration for the hire. They knew what they were getting.
He’s let go one coordinator and will probably let other dog as well. CU is like a high school AAU basketball team now.
Whether they become competitive in the Big 12 next year or the next remains to be seen.
But I am an interested observer to see what his team looks like in a few years assuming Prime stays.
