Weitz did a lot for us Saturday. But, couldn’t get it done in a potential game-winning situation.
Of course the world and fate decided to give us THAT scenario out of all the ways we could’ve won that game. Of course, it came down to our kicker. The position we’ve had the most concern with. Just our luck lately.
Regardless, I see us sticking with Weitz, but we’re going to need a guy who can hit from 50. It’s what Dabo loves.
I also could see Gunn getting more chances, but if he doesn’t pan out. We need to hit the portal for one.
Anybody in mind?

scenario. The staff was extremely conservative after getting 1st down at the 12 yard line. The playcalling seemed to indicate that Dabo was fine attempting a go ahead FG there rather than pushing for a TD.

Monday Morning QB

Looks like Liam Boyd (at UNC) was the better pick over Gunn for starting kicker. And 3rd stringer veteran walk-on felt the pressure and choked the 4th qtr kick. Not many P5 schools have kickers that miss 29 yd FG's, but it happens under pressure. Monday morning QB.

Boyd has 14 KOs, no FG attempts or PATs

Tarhole's other 2 kickers are 6-7 on FGs. Starting kicker also has 12 KOs. He transferred to still be a backup kicker. Maybe if he stayed he would be starting right now.

At this point you might as well ride it out. Die was cast and we gambled our season on the poor kid. As far as fate, I think Dabo totally set that up and played for that kick. We ran off 5 minutes and set up a storybook ending. He’s so rainbows and unicorns he couldn’t imagine the outcome being bad.

Dabo said he gave us our best chance because the others weren’t ready. How many kickers do we have, that can’t kick a chip shot FG with the game on the line? More wasted roster spots for those that don’t/can’t perform …

So frustrating and sad. And such an act of desperation that he really must’ve had nothing.

Playing for a f/g with 2 great backs available was 100 per cent dumb a-- coaching, probably cost us the win !

Yes we do. We have a great class coming in if we can hang on to them. That combined with the good young we have now, the future looks bright. However, with the dumb coaching decisions last year and this ywar, I just hope many won't hit the portal.
