I don’t have firsthand knowledge, but I’m guessing we don’t have the cash to both keep our current roster intact and to win bidding wars. So Dabo opts to focus what cash we do have on the current roster.

I think a lot of the frustration from the fanbase is rooted in speculation that we have plenty of cash to do both, and that Dabo refuses to use it for both. The really critical point here is that we don’t know the cash situation. I see Judge on here claiming he knows… but I assert that he does not. Can someone with some real knowledge of the situation help here?

If it turns out that we really don’t have the funding, perhaps that’s motivation enough for the fan base to donate. If it turns out we have plenty of funding to compete for talent, then the indignation toward Dabo is completely justified.

it's a dumb argument to suggest Clemson doesn't have enough money to compete....

yet has the 2nd-3rd highest salaried head coach in the country. The money is there.....Clemson has plenty of SUPPORT / Money to compete at the highest level regardless of "the rules".

to your point about motivation to donate...............if or when Dabo decides to SPEND to obtain TOP impact talent utilizing all talent streams available then maybe........just maybe..........the fan's motivation will get there. Until then fans know the MONEY is not being utilized to best serve the football program only trying to KEEP some of the talent that we have.

have to spend to KEEP, Obtain from Portal, & HS recruiting............ALL OF THE ABOVE.

And it all changes next summer. We'll divide 15-16 million in shared revenue between up to 105 players, $143k-$152k on average and it won't be evenly split. At the same time, NIL deals will have to be legitimate and for fair market value. Rumored deals that pay a mediocre college player more than a more well-known NFL player in the same region will be flagged, hopefully.

Every one of these deals you hear about that are used to entice a recruit to flip are completely against the rules as they stand today. But the rules aren't being enforced. This all sounds like Dabo finally decided to break the rules like everybody else, at least until the summer.
