YouTube TV increasing rates beginning Jan 13, 2025

Dec 12, 2024, 10:04 AM

Hi Bob,

YouTube TV has always worked hard to offer you the content you love, delivered the way you want, with features that make it easy to enjoy the best of live TV.

To keep up with the rising cost of content and the investments we make in the quality of our service, we’re updating our monthly price from $72.99/month to $82.99/month starting January 13, 2025.

We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we realize this has an impact on our members. We are committed to bringing you features that are changing the way we watch live TV, like unlimited DVR storage and multiview*, and supporting YouTube TV’s breadth of content and vast on-demand library of movies and shows.

The price of your YouTube TV Base Plan membership will change in your first billing cycle on or after January 13, 2025, and will be charged to your payment method on file going forward. To view your current plan, go to Settings > Membership for updated information. If you are currently on a trial or promotional price for the Base Plan, that promotion is still honored and unchanged.

We hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we understand that some of our members may want to cancel their subscriptions. As always, family managers have the ability to pause or cancel anytime. You can find more information in our Help Center.

With lots of exciting shows and live events ahead in the new year, we’ll continue to strive to deliver the best of TV, all in one place. Thank you for being a loyal YouTube TV member.

Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team

Go Tigers!

Gee sounds like your old cable company doesn’t it? I wonder if they will be able to levy a monthly remote control fee at some point?

5 years Ive had it. This isn't anything new. Read the news, prices for sports keep increasing the costs for subscribing all across the board.

I just received the e-mail from them too...

but still much better than Spectrum IMO.

Should be getting my notice shortly, yippy.

I will still take it happily over the cable which had gotten out of hand..... I've had the same $78/month rate for the 16 months I have had it so a little increase is to be expected at some point.

Would not be surprised to see this theme occur annually for the next few years unless something better comes along which is highly likely

It's just a never ending saga, Hulu did the same thing. They'll keep inching up, but stay just below cable companies. The economy never gets better, because nobody can just stay the F still....like ####...just stop!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This is precisely how the economy gets better - more revenues across the board

equal higher GDP. Especially important without any growth in population that is likely to be in order in the coming years.

Higher prices but no pay increases to match. Same **** different day.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wasn't it just like 5 years ago that it was $50/year??

3

Dec 12, 2024, 10:16 AM

This is nuts.

We use it for football season and then suspend it for the rest of the year. Just too expensive and we don't watch that much TV.

I think that YTTV is probably the best streaming platform, especially for sports, but originally streaming was a more cost effective option than cable or satellite. Now it's just as much as either of those were back when we were trying to "cut the cord" and save money.

Ain't no getting ahead of The Man no mo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep.... Got that email this morning.

Notice YouTube is not offering any specific new services or additional channels for that $10 (13%) price increase. Best I can tell, we'll just be paying another $10 per month for the same service they are providing now.

Greedy Alphabet Inc. basta.rds.....

I have really enjoyed having YouTube-TV, but when they get higher than the basic price of cable TV, I can easily go back to the cable TV!!!

Don’t worry they will eventually go up as well. All these providers get different rates for their channels based on their number of subscribers. In the end it always goes up.

Thanks Bob, you’ve prepared me for the sticker shock. Unfortunately, even with the increase .. it’s still the best option for streaming ..

Fubo is the same price after the one month trial offer.***

I got Fubo this summer to watch baseball but hated it. The platform, DVR and programming controls.. ff, rewind, etc were not good.

Won't matter to me for a while as I only carry youtubetv during football season. That saves me around seven months a year in premiums. It's amazing how little programming of theirs I watch that isn't football.

I go the same email except the name was different! Hahaha. I’m surprised it took this long when prices for everything have surged the last four years to the tune of 50%+ on average. I still don’t know how the govt can claim 2.9% inflation. SMH. January can’t come fast enough. DOGE and Trump. Let’s go!

People online are saying you can go to cancel and they will offer you 5 months for $63.99. Worth a shot!
