That's actually good news, now our coaches will be able to spend their time with recruits who are actually interested in Clemson! He's been a leg humper for a long time. Coaches have limited free time on game days and there will be other important prospects on campus.

So, let me get this straight. Finnebaum and co. are SEC hoes, couldn't pick the Tigers to win in a rainstorm and their life depended on it, and regularly bet against us even though we are playing Sister Sadie Dinkins and her High Heeled Shoes, yet y'all are going to believe them when they say this kid is gone. Hmmmmmm. Let the coaches work their magic and let's have some faith.

Clearly, you haven't been in our student section recently, as they cuss too. As for games, I was between the hedges in 91 or 92, when we got spanked. Cussing, yep. Not much racist crap. Seemed to be a fair number of black folks around. There will always be someone saying it, but I've heard it in NYC by an Indian cabbie....guess NYC is racist, too . Sick of hearing the racist crap when something doesn't go someone's way

You understand that's exactly what "they" say about Clemson too right?Like every fanbase who is in recruiting competition says that about the opposition.Nature of the "fanbase" beast. I say good if he comes. Will move on to the next if he doesn't.

That's a funny response to a 320lb black man choosing a rassist school. How bout we we let these these kids decide what's good for them. UGA as an institution is not much different. Their fans however.....well you could get peed on from upper decks.

...is not. Mark Richt had some pretty good recruiting classes but Richt was famous for doing the least with the most. Kirby Smart is riding the wave with Richt's players. It'll all come crumbling down in a couple years. We've seen this movie time and time again.

Look at their recruiting class the last 10 years. It didn't help them win the SEC. It barely helped them win the weakest division in college football. How many times over the last 15 years has UGA been preseason #1? I think it was at least 2 times if not more. How'd that worked out for them? How many times has Clemson been ranked preseason #1? That answer is ZERO. Yet the SEC homers want to call it that dreaded word that shall not be spoken. It should have been and always has been Georgia-ing. UGA got embarrassed by the only team they played against that was actually above average. I actually expect Georgia Tech to make it close and possibly beat them. Kirby hasn't changed that in the time he's been here. What separates Clemson from the rest and why Dabo can win even with a top 10 class is because he doesn't take just anyone like the rest do. he recruits the needs of the team and who cares what recruiting rankings are. If he needs a DE he gets a top notch DE. The others will take 5 DE's that makes it impossible to play all of them. Look where Tennessee recruiting has been the last few years. Almost always hirer than Clemson's but they lost to Florida. GO Tigers.

Did you FL State's recruiting classes the last 5 years? On paper, we should have never won the last 3 years.
However, on paper is only worth just that.
It's one thing to recruit 5*, it's something completely different to: 1) Recruit quality 5* players that are an asset and not an hinderance to the team, and... 2) keep those said players and develop them, and... 3) not have to kick 2-3 off the team each year for arrests/violations of team rules, etc.

Doesn’t matter. What matters is development. Look at Tennessee. Butch Jones hauled in stellar classes but couldn’t develop that talent. Look at FSU this year. Always ranked ahead of Clemson in recruiting but nose dived this year. Dabo has long since passed the test as a good developer, along with his staff, of talent which is why they’ve been having 10+ wins consecutively and are experiencing the success they are currently having. Kirby has yet to pass that test. He’s done a good job with what he currently has but will that continue? He’s only in year two so we’ll see.

I mean Clemson has a similar policy but Dabo makes it known that he doesn't want the commitment if the recruit will be going elsewhere. Similar policy, if that's what Smart does. But you can't do that with an uncommitted recruit.

IMO it's totally different from Dabo's policy. Smart's policy is coming from insecurity, while Dabo's is just want's people who have committed to take the term seriously.

B4-U get upset. 5 Star OL bust h.s. to college pretty common
Nov 16, 2017, 6:55 PM
|
|
Give me the kid from Dorman! Those 5 star OL in H.S. are just "already built" to where you would like them. That is what maybe separates them from say a 4 or 3 star. They will typically already have a College Body in other words. @ Clemson you aren't going to start on the OL anyway as a Freshman. IF you move well and "we can build your body to what we want it to be at our speed/time" give me that over a kid who had a growth spurt sooner! They dominate in H.S. b/c they are so much more physically gifted. Where as a slightly smaller kid. The Dorman kid is 6'5 280 still good size.....but 5 star OL will be more in the 300 range. The 280 means he still had to work on technique, leverage, speed. Did the other kid "have to do that"? No, his physical attributes allowed him to just be physically more able. We redshirt our local Roebuck, SC product and I guarantee you if he is a typical SC kid he will work his tail off during his redshirt year. Get bigger stronger and be ready to dominate. TNET fans if you ever get an opportunity; they often have "look back polls"! Take a look at one sometimes. Often many of the "can't miss" 5 star guys never even crack starting line ups. Or they end up being huge bust. Some 3 star kid or 4 star ends up in the Heisman talks or end of year position award talk. It happens far more than most people realize. Those 5 star guys often "don't want to work for it" because they have "always just been able to use their physical attributes" to dominate. But, what happens when the opponent is just as strong? Uh oh! Give me the guy who knows technique, work ethic, playbook execution, etc. b/c he had to learn them in order to be a good to dominant player! A bunch of words to say: "Oh, well, but I am not too disappointed"! Did Jordan McFadden De-commit from Virginia Tech?

Too me this seems like a smart move by the coaches to get Mays away from a guy that they know is going to Georgia so that Salyer don't try to counter the greatness Cade will inevitably witness this weekend. I truly think this may have been initiated by our coaches. Guess we will never know but in today's recruiting world you have to account for every situation. Its like that offensive linemen that chose Florida over Clemson not to long ago where he hadn't been to Clemson since early this year and had been to Florida numerous times right before his commitment. It makes it look like Florida beat the reigning national champions for a recruit and I have the feeling this is the same situation with Salyer where he and Georgia both know he is going to Georgia but they want it to be public that Georgia beat the national champs for a recruit.

Pittman over Caldwell any day. These kids are loving them some Sam Pittman. Kirby gets Mays last visit before he signs and it's rumoured that Mays is already in the fold....Don't think there's anything he'll see this weekend that will flip him

...and not at all saying this is true in this sense, but I wonder how many times recruits who are committed to a school still take visits at the direction of their future coach to gather intel on competing programs. And if coaches like Clemson catch on to this and will stop the recruitment altogether. Again not saying this is the case here but food for thought.
