Not wanting to take a gamble on their first run at facial recognition.
Especially when it's even buggy during the keynote.

I've got a busted screen Note 3 from like 2013

that still gets pretty good battery life.
When I first got that thing everybody who saw it gave me a hard time about how big the screen was. Then big screens got cool when Apple cam out with theirs.

smaller ones. Of course, I'm still hoping for some sort of hipsterish revolution where we disavow all of these smart phones and constant communication to go back to living like we did in the 80's and 90's. I think that was the pinnacle of civilization, enough privacy that you could still get away from the world and it was OK, but enough technology that made life a lot easier.

often be gone for days on end and no one really getting that concerned about not being in constant contact.
I find I leave my phone at home more and more, and just don't miss it. I think my wife might get the DT's if it's not near her hand at all times.
We went to wild wing cafe the other night and it was pretty empty, so we just sat at the bar and ate. I was noticing the bartender chick was checking her phone about every 15-20 seconds. She was like a meth tweaker back there--it was like she couldn't get away from it, and if somebody walked up or wanted something, she got visibly agitated that she wasn't checking it.

This is the second year in a row at the beach I've seen people enter the ocean, phone in hand. Ride through Clemson on the lake, if it's a boat full of students half of them are looking at their phone.

I disconnect from the phone for the most part around 5:30

every afternoon. I go for a long hike with the pup when I get home and I NEVER carry the phone with me. I stick it on the charger most of the night, and I'll usually look a couple of times before bed to make sure nothing at work exploded initiating a flurry of e-mails, but for the most part I'm done with it for the day. I turn it off and leave it on the table with my wallet and keys when I go to bed. If family needs me in the middle of the night, they know to call the landline. And yes...I still have one. Deeply discounted thanks to work, and necessary for the alarm system to function. But even more so, a landline affords me the ability to disconnect from the electronic leash. The ONLY time I get annoyance calls on it is during elections, and I just don't answer it if it's not a family member.

Thought about pixel

but I can get $480 Trade in on my Note5 if I trade it for a Note8. That brings the $960 price tag down considerably. And they have a promo now for either a wireless fast charger and 128 GB SD card or a 4K 360degree camera. I never used up all of my 32GB on the Note5 and the Note8 has 64. I can't imagine who needs all that storage.

I got some fuggin' WORDS to have with Apple, yo.

I bought the iPhone 6 when it came out 3 years ago. Highest capacity was 128GB, and it cost $500. The Plus was $600, but don't care because I'm not blind and don't enjoy talking to people on a piece of toast.
So, 3 years later, the highest capacity "6" (the iPhone 8, same size, footprint, etc.) is now $850? A fucking 70% increase for the same phone?
Oh, and the iPhone X? Neat. It looks pretty sweet. I want it. Not gonna lie. $1,150? Go fuck yourselves, Apple.

Won't your Motorola StarTAC allow you to post updates to your MySpace page just as easy, and for a lot less?

Pixel's been my best phone.

I also have an iPhone 6 and routinely stop in the middle of what I'm doing on it and put it down to use the Pixel.
Pixel might not be the best Android Phone, but it performs just as well as iPhone. Google Assistant is better than Siri, and unlimited Photo storage don't hurt.
