Sounds like the PGA panicked because wasn't going away anytime soon. So now the Saudis have gotten their hands on the PGA tour. Hope they don't completely ruin the tradition of the game.

What happened to the sanctimonious posturing by the PGA? Saudis stay heavily involved and now make another investment and now have a good amount of control in new entity? What??? I guess it wasn't that egregious. Not surprising when you are in bed with the Chinese as well. Money rules once again....
I'm actually glad to see this. Hopefully we can see more of the LIV golfers play against the PGAs best. LIV has some good ideas that you can incorporate while keeping the tradition of the game intact.

It’s clear - the few good golfers from LIV wanted out.

They wanted to play competitive golf again and if the left LIV - it would be nothing other than a trash group of golfers. So LIV had to do this.

Don't see it that way at all. LIV pretty much got what they wanted... Brooks, Cam, Reed, Dechambeau, heck even 50+ Phil have shown LIV is plenty competitive....

Chamblee really knows his stuff, really respect his knowledge and perspective which is elite... but he ruins it by being a sanctimonious a$$ when its not needed.

Brooks def. isn't warm and fuzzy...but he hasn't bashed the PGA like others. Him and Johnson have handled it the right way. Brandel deserves zingers...multiple....glad Faxon stood up to him the other day.

Let's just say his comments were reserved, cautious, and well-measured.
He was trying very hard to be calm and professional. It was clear he was disappointed and shocked. In fact, those were his words.
My impression (not his words) was he thinks Monahan sold out for money.

than existed before. The PGA players that were offered ridiculous money to join LIV and stayed for the sake of "game" are surely going to have issues with this deal. Especially given that none of them knew it was happening.
There's no doubt that Monahan sold out for the money. The PGA had essentially buried LIV in terms of media broadcasting. LIV was an afterthought for most golf fans. I never even watched one of the LIV events.

I can understand this from the players perspective. Also I'm thinking the PGA didn't have much of a choice. Some of their biggest draws have been banned from competition. And they were trying to avoid any further litigation that they probably felt they couldn't win.
My hope is that it doesn't turn the whole thing into a circus. No-cuts, beer party holes, team competition, etc. I'm sure there's a market for that. Not for me though.
And stop trying to turn the whole thing into some reality made for TV drama BS. Rory vs Phil, Koepka vs Deschambeau. Save that garbage for the WWE.

Got paid and now they get their PGA cards back too. I wonder if Tiger regrets turning down nearly a billion dollars.

Let me clear this up for y’all: professional golfers play golf for money. The more money they can make either through performance or endorsements you better believe they will do it. Just look at the number of product patches on their shirts and hats now. The higher ups milking them through the structure of a PGA Tour saw drops in future revenues that could never support the money they were promising players. It was cutting into their grift too much.

Let's be honest. There is no way the PGA was going to win a business war against the Saudi national wealth fund. Maybe we need to be admitting Saudi 's students at Clemson? Let's get some of that oil $. They already keep their horses in Aiken. Just win baby!
