Peter Tom Willis fired as FSU's color-analyst for being too

critical during broadcasts. Isn't it required for a college's broadcast team to be "homers" pretty much? Is this unprecedented as far as having a color-analyst who is critical at all? Wasn't Willis the QB in 1989 when we hammered FSU in Tallahassee?

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Map, News) - Former Florida State quarterback P.T. Willis, who has been the radio color analyst for Seminoles games the last 10 seasons, is being replaced.
Willis said he was told he was too critical of the team's performance.
"I don't know how you say things are going good when they are not," Willis told the Tallahassee Democrat.
A rift developed between Willis and coach Bobby Bowden after the 2005 Florida State game against Clemson. Willis said then offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden ran "a high school offense" at a time the younger Bowden was already under fire by fans.
Jeff Bowden's contract was bought out the following year as the school's offensive problems continued.
Willis enjoyed one of the best seasons of any Florida State quarterback in 1989 when he threw for 3,124 yards while leading the Seminoles to a 10-2 season and No. 4 national ranking.
School officials said Friday that the Seminole ISP network had several former players in mind as a possible successor, but that none had yet been contacted.

Maybe Willis shouldn't have called Jeff Bowden's offense "High School", but it's too bad schools will censor like that.
Willis was their QB right at the start of FSU's great run of Top 5 finishes. You could see how he'd be bitter about the teams stuggles recently.
I was at the 'Roach in '89 for that game. We snuck down to the 2nd row and sat right behind the FSU cheerleaders. I was with one of my Army buddies who was from FL, so we had a great time.
Gamecock fans were not amused, but luckily all we caught was some verbal grief.
