Pet peeve of mine.

Just a rant.

For four years my brother and I announced high school football for a local radio station. We had several teams in our county, so it was normally 2 new teams every week.

During the week I would go to the team in our area and get the roster. Then I would sit down with someone, normally the coach, and go over every name in the roster. I wanted to make sure we pronounced it correctly. It's important to the kid and to their parents especially.

Well, I'm watching the FSU game. FSU is playing a bunch of guys that are on the 3 or 4 deep depth chart. I've heard the announcers butcher several names. If they aren't willing to get the pronunciation of the kids, there should be somebody in the booth (some intern) whose job it is to get the correct pronunciation and feed it to the announcer.

Sorry, rant over.

I agree, if you don’t know the pronunciation of their name(s), move on!

Not just players but the 11 years they said Dabo!

We are national champs w dw4 and I thought they def will be corrected. Even the talking heads but nope! After 3 playoffs and a natty and I hear Dahbo more than I hear Dabo!

But ill be dammmmmed if everybody and their niece didn't climb through Samoan, it whatever, pronunciations to pronounce dju name! Don't know why ge got the royalty but yes if you don't or can't pronounce it just say, "#12" tackled do and so and go on.

But the Dabo thing i felt was directed out of spite and they so wanted Dabo to not be Dabo!

And bamer lost so south carolina won again tonight!

Not disagreeing Bret, but a large percentage still say "Clemzun."

the past 60 years call us CLEM-ZON, when all of us know it's CLEMP-SON!

So, I attribute that kind of stuff to laziness.

Perhaps, the most hilarious faux pas are recruits proudly proclaiming, "I'm going to be playing for the UNIVERSITY OF CLEMSON!" Acceptable, of course, as long as they eventually sign the dotted line! lol

said they had mispronounce the kickers name last week by using the university pronunciation guide. He is Jayden Fielding but the U gave pronounciation as Felding which is wrong..
