People in here posting about us using the portal is useless

I assume we will not use the portal to get players Until Dabo actually uses it. Until then it’s a waste of time to mention it.

If you are referring to Hunter Johnson, I think that was more of a grad transfer than a true portal selection, especially when he comes back to the school he originally came from.

If we're contacting players we're attempting to use it

Who have we contacted?
CB from UVa. CB a need, not desperate, especially if Jones comes back, but a need. We're young, if talented, behind Wiggins.
Supposedly a couple of WR. I think we'd agree that's a need.
No DE-still think it's likely XT and Mascoll return
No RB-3rd string RB clearly not viewed as a need
No OL-we return 4 starters and have highly rated guys on the team and coming in
No DT-even with Bresee, Davis and Ruke looking at leaving, we have talent there and talent coming in
No TE-we're good there
No QB-2 five stars will lead the depth chart
No S-return Mukuba, Mickens, Venables, Covil and maybe even Phillips if he chooses so
No LB-we may see some contacts here

It's pure insanity to think a 3rd string RB is not a need.

Here are the attempts that 3rd string RBs have had for other teams:
Ohio State: 102 UGA: 73 Alabama: 51 Michigan: 55
All of these 3rd stringers are highly rated guys. I truly have no idea why you stick to the idea that we can't find another RB to come here because of Shipley/Mafah. Most elite programs have 4 power 5 quality RBs on their roster.
Both Alabama and Michigan's 3rd stringer's average under 5 carries a game.

Did they portal in to do that ?

Pace was getting that and left.
This isn't signing a recruit, a 3 star guy who may be developmental. It's asking a guy who is leaving one school, likely for more PT or to try to excel at a higher level, to come here for very, very few touches.
I want Ship and Mafah getting almost all the carries in any game other than a blowout. I want them very happy with their touches

has a bit more speed than Shipley. Give him a chance to develop a rhythm like we have with Shipley and pound on those corners and safeties. I think Shipley would benefit from that tenderizing of the defense as well.

and it is about touches, not just carries. It's going to be interesting if we begin to see more tempo now with Cade at the wheel. He's going to get his carries, but if we can get back into thst 75-80 snap range, that's more touches for everybody.
I think Ship and Mafah compliment each other well. Ship has that knack for finding the seam at the LOS and popping through. Runs tough, that's why he's so good on the goal line. Great vision and first cut. Mafah is just a manchild. And improving as a receiver and reading his blocks.

offensive efficiency is going to skyrocket. More plays benefits the team in so many ways from performance to player development, contentment and recruiting.
Both of those guys will be huge in the passing game. Making them receivers instead of blockers gives them the advantage against linebackers. Getting them out in space with a QB that can place the ball out in front quickly is going to allow them to setup blocks and gash people.
Once Cade gets rolling, I think we'll see some of the most efficient offense we've seen at Clemson. He reminds me of DeShaun Watson with more speed, accuracy and touch.

Yep I’m a big Mafah fan myself.

Did you guys not see Dominique Thomas in the spring game? I am comfortable with him at 3rd string. And bring in a freshman to develop.
