“bad hire”… “OU didn’t want him”… etc…. Look how that turned out. If it is Tim Banks, maybe just let it play out before declaring disaster?

And yet now, there is a large contingent that seems to think BV is the only DC

in the whole country who could succeed at Clemson. "BV, The Return" ain't happening, folks. Time to move on, and get behind whoever Dabo DOES bring in. Now that the internal experiments have failed, I believe he will make a good hire this time around. Clemson football is once again on an upward trajectory.

Promoting internally isn't an experiment. It's a classic and time tested

method of running successful enterprises. It's been effective here as well in many instances, and we have some impressive hardware to show for it, but like any hire and role - not a guarantee for success.

Remind me, was Dabo an internal hire for head coach?

With Wes Goodwin it was an experiment and not simply promoting a coach within the program because Wes had never been a coach for anything in football. He has always been an analyst. He has never played any football nor coached any position before getting the DC job. That was the biggest experiment a head coach of a D1 program could’ve taken. If it had of worked, Dabo would have been called a genius. Unfortunately, it did not and reaffirmed that hat experience is a necessity for success at this level. With that being said, I’m still a huge supporter of Dabo and feel he will go with an experienced DC this time around. He’s not gonna play around this year because he knows he as the offense to make a run as long as the defense can hold its own.

Tennessee's defense has improved steadily over the past 4 seasons with him at the helm. They finished this season Top 10 in total defense and had the No. 8 scoring defense in the nation.

Wes Goodwin may have been an easy enough sell at the time.

Some would only be satisfied with a BV rehire at this point but that’s just not possible!
I predict we will need to replace Garrett Riley next year , after a (hopefully record breaking) offensive year nets him a big time p4 coaching job!
