We’re on a bluff about 100 ft above the lake. Cumberland has no private docks and the treed setback on the whole lake goes to the top of every ridge. All boating is done out of marinas or ramps and the marinas are really nice.

Not as convenient as walking down to the dock but the flip side is amazing boating. Everywhere on the lake is treed so it feels really private and you can find a private cove any time. Steep shoreline so when you’re 8 feet from shore you’re in 30+ feet of water and it’s clear enough to see your feet. It’s a trade off but I don’t want to boat anywhere else after coming here.

I can hit the lake with a 3 wood from our house in TN and I haven’t been on it in over a year because I just don’t care.

thing for a week. Still amazes me they will let basically anyone rent a 40'+ houseboat and set them loose.

The biggest renting marina ion the lake sold their fleet this off season. I suspect liability insurance costs were the reason. Still plenty of marinas that rent them but I suspect this will be an unfortunate trend that continues.

It’s $10k per tree if you get caught cutting one beyond the setback. We have to get creative enough as it is to keep the view we have unobstructed.
