Last two games at the Orange Bowl, Clemson has punished our opponent physically. First we gave OhioSt some hurtin buckaroos, then punished Oklahoma so hard they would not have been able to field a team the following week in the championship game.
Per the Oklahoma board of regents chairman ...
"Based on what happened to us in the Orange Bowl, even if we won that [playoff] game, we would not be able to field a team that week," Weitzenhoffer said.
"Our quarterback [Baker Mayfield] -- I was on the sidelines -- was totally out of it. Our running backs were finished. I just think a playoff also added another element of risk."

Exactly, and the word going around in college FB was that sooners were one of the best teams in college FB, and they would take Clemson out to the woodshed for a beating!!!

What he's saying, OU can make the 4 team playoff with a loss and no Big12 championship game.
Why would you vote to add an extra game (Big12 championship) when you can already make the CFP without it? That just adds another hurdle/risk you did not have before.
