OT: Real life National Lampoons Christmas Vacation Ordeal
Oct 24, 2012, 11:32 AM
|
|
After coming home from a conference in Raliegh this past weekend, my wife and I return to find a dead squirrel in the living room. A gracious gift from our well skilled savage of a cat. (we have a doggy door)
I take the squirrel outside and throw it over the fence behind the back yard in the woods.
The next morning, to make sure we enjoyed his gift, we found that he brought the squirrel back into the house and laid it in the same place.
This time I put in a trash bag and dispose of it.
So yesterday I had to work late.
When I get home I find out that my parents had to come over and assist my wife with yet another squirrel problem.
This time DC, (his name is DC because when he was dropped off at our door 2 years ago my wife referred to him as "D@mn Cat") thinking we were not satisfied with a dead squirrel, this time he brings a live squirrel into the house and lets him go.
My wife came home and heard a noise in the living room and ran in to find a squirrel hanging at the top of a window with DC sitting on the floor below patiently waiting. My parents had to help her shew the squirrel out the front door. (How he got it in, past our dogs, and over the dog gate into the living room is beyond me.) I am afraid to see what I find in our house when I return home today.
This isn't the first time he's pulled something like this. A few months ago, we found a maimed skink with a missing tail slithering across the dining room floor.
So how do you stop a cat from bringing in prized varments to your house through a doggy door? Doggy door has to remain, can't declaw because he's an outdoor cat the majority of the time and no, I don't want to kill him or take him off. He's otherwise a good cat.

Nothing wrong with a cat. Especially this one. This cat has the demeanor of a Tiger.
