Opening morning story time.

Got up at 4:30am this morning and walked in the mile hike to the stand. We get set up in the stand (wife and I , no pigs) at around 6:05am. Sitting there as the frost started to glisten off the fields we heard some branches cracking in the woods. This was literally in the first few minutes of legal shooting light but still hard to see. All of a sudden a big ole buck is standing about 70 yards away silhouetted in the top field. I pull up take a few seconds to steady my rifle and boom!!!
Buck lurches some and runs off into the woods. Give him 20 min to lay and I get down to search, not one drop of blood anywhere, I’m cursing myself for missing him, I search the woods as well and nothing. At this point I am pretty disappointed. So I call the wife still sitting in the stand and she says, bro you looking in the wrong spot, he went up into that other corner. So I walk a little further and he is laying right there next to the edge of the field. Turns out there was no exit wound hence the no blood trail.
Got back into the stand now bc other people in the group hunting the property and don’t want to ruin their hunt by bringing the truck in for the buck.

Not as massive as mine but wider, younger deer as it weighed 163 after field dress and first one 175.

which make no sense.
When I need the insulation, snakes aren't out.
When the snakes are out, I don't need the insulation.
