I'd freakin vote for that guy! Nice to see people of faith speak their beliefs regardless of what others think! Why is it that when people who are anti-christian speak their anti-christian rhetoric it's applauded, but let someone speak about their faith and the whole world condemns them? I say good job Harrison! Kudos for your standing up for your faith.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with someone speaking their beliefs…hey, live your life the way you want…but it doesn’t make one immune to criticism…especially if the application of your beliefs infringes on the rights of others to live their lives they way they choose…within reason of course.

I may have missed something, but the last I read about him, he had sent a letter to Cardinal Dolan, of New York, chastising for allowing a trans funeral at St. Patricks Cathedral. It was the manner in which the funeral was conducted that was the problem, not that the person was merely trans. Dolan, kind of walked it back, but of course Dolan's biggest fear is that he won't get invited to all of the social activities around New York city.

You'll be happy to know the city of Kansas City doxxed him by tweeting out where he lives, presumably in an attempt to get a deranged leftist to murder his family and/or burn down his house. Sounds like the kind of people you'd enjoy beating up some of those evil Jews with, amiright?

Just for the new Testament, there are over 10,000 manuscripts in Latin and over 9,000 in other languages surviving today, the earliest complete texts are from the mid 2nd century before Christianity was legalized in the Roman empire, and before there was any centralized church authority. The New Testament today is considered 99% accurate to the second century manuscripts. Also none of the New Testament authors were goatherds.
I hope this will help you to not be close minded and ignorant about at least this part of the Bible.

I know you are an atheist, and you have every right to be. But I don't understand the bitterness. I'm sure 99.9999% of T-Netters have never met you; but I have. I know you. I don't remember you being that way about people who held different beliefs.
If a Christian did something to you to cause such bitterness to well up in you, just remember that it's no more right or fair to judge Christians by the acts of one or a few than it is to judge or stereotype any other group. I'm sorry they hurt or offended you. And I suspect that if you were somewhere injured or otherwise vulnerable and needed help, generally you'd rather see a Christian coming down the road than some other folks around this world who have lower moral or behavioral standards or who are likely to treat you badly because of you don't adhere to their beliefs.
If you ever need help or want to talk to a Christian who will show you kindness, respect and patience when discussing matters of faith (or anything else), then you name the date and time and I'll meet you at the front door of that place where we used to play on College Ave. Let's talk. But please remember respect goes both ways. You know me, you spent a good bit of time with me back in the day; do you remember me being a mean person? I don't think so. I didn't have the courage to proclaim or the strength/maturity to live my faith back then. I wish I had. I was an immature, self-indulgent person then. I'm sorry for that. I wish I could go back and change a lot of my foolishness.
And btw, I read where Alex and Geddy were jamming again recently, and Alex was quoted as saying after ten years off they sounded like a garage cover band. Alex specifically mentioned "Free Will" as just being too danged hard. I concur.

I grew up going to church every week, but one thing that never made sense to me is the age of the universe. Google says the estimated age based on the Bible is only 6k years.
We’ve got plenty of fossils that seem to contradict that age. We also have telescopes that can see stars millions of light years away.
Not trying to attack your beliefs, just curious about your thoughts.

People who believe the Bible's creation account can still disagree on the how, and the how long ago.
There are many, as far back as Augustine in the 5th. Century, who believe that the Genesis account does not commit itself to what's called a "young earth" (something akin to what is referenced in your post). Indeed, the age of the earth was not the primary (or even secondary) purpose of Genesis.
It's purposes were: that God is, that God created, that humans are made in His image and therefore have dignity and telos (purpose), that evil is real, and that suffering has a cause (and cure). Among other things.
Does that make sense?

The bible never says the earth is 6K years old. Some try to date the earth using genealogy records from the bible but most consider that to be an invalid methodology. For example, the bible says Jesus is the Son of David but we know he only came from the linage of David. There are plenty of articles explaining why this method of dating the earth is not valid and the folks who follow it are a bit out there.

The apostle Paul - Jewish religious leader and highly educated - a goat herder? LOL! King David - yes, a shepherd to begin with, but King over Israel? LOL! Multiple prophets - goat herders? LOL! Matthew - a tax collector - goat herder? LOL! Luke - a doctor and scientist - goat herder? LOL! Peter, James, John - fishermen - goat herder? Moses - Trained in Egyptian culture - Leader of leaders - goat herder? LOL!
Furthermore, I can point you to several esteemed authors who have set out to disprove the Bible only to come away validating its accuracy. Shall I continue to point out more? Your ignorance of actual biblical writers is not vast.

I’m surprised people aren’t saying he should “Shut up and kick the ball”.
Isn’t that the mindset when lebron talks about anything other than sports?
Honestly though he can say anything he wants, but free speech doesn’t protect you from criticism.
It’s pretty ignorant to imply that most women graduates won’t be fulfilled until they get married and have kids.

One would think using sports to push political agenda is vastly different than speaking at a private catholic university graduation.
The problem with kneeling protests is the in your face politics during the sports event themselves. I don’t think anyone has ever criticized lebron for speaking at a private event.
Second, what was wrong with his message exactly? It was very well delivered and spoke to “his” beliefs at a school that shared them. He wasn’t forcing his opinion on anyone else but speaking to people who share common views. As for the women, my wife who works full time and has risen the corporate latter quite quickly never mentions much about work as her greatest accomplishments… I’m guessing you can figure out what she does. Maybe he is trying to impart wisdom to them about what matters from a person who has gone through more?

What i want is to have the same standard applied to everyone. If someone speaks out against things that offend them as a Christian they're labeled a fanatic or a bigot, but everyone who is anti-Christian seems to think their spewing their own rhetoric should just be accepted by all.

He might find that his opinions, that he has made very public, won't meet the response he expects from everybody on the football field and everybody else on the kickoff teams is bigger and stronger than him so he will be put in a position to meet someone who disagrees with him in a forum in which physical retaliation is promoted.
Might not go too well for him.

Which makes him that much more a man than one who cowers, exercising his religion in the privacy of his own church or synagogue or mosque.
The man proclaimed his own beliefs on his own time at a private university event. Others write criminals' names on their shoes and wear rainbow cleats during their time in the public doing very public things.
If anything, Harrison did it the right way.

He is a kicker, do you even watch football?

The real question should be what in the hail qualifies a dude who kicks a ball to be the featured speaker at an academic event? Did he graduate from college? Did he have a 4.0? Is he a life long learner? Or does he just kick a ball? Good Gawd people. We can and should do better.

To only you. You’ve gotta be one of the top 10 dumbest Tigernet posters of all time. I can imagine you sitting at your keyboard chuckling like Beavis after you drop one of your patented witty retorts. It’s amazing that you are able to muster enough gray matter to even navigate to a website much less post on it. Congratulations for overcoming your intellectual defeciencies.

Your stupidity is when you are silent on those rare occasions it actually speaks volumes of your hypocrisy. Nick04 and others make exactly the same points I do with the lying Biden 💩 corrupt show past 4 years but you neverrrr give them a thumbs down or give any type of meaningful contribution. Reason is because you are part of the anti-American ####### cancer left. Truth is an awesome feeling.

But I’m pretty sure they haven’t told another poster that his 80 year old mom is on Tinder, blamed the deaths of the murdered Charlotte law enforcement officers on their own incompetence, or just recently ridiculed a poster who shared a personal story on Mother’s Day about meeting his adopted mom.
I don’t know maybe they are as douchey as you are but statistically it’s unlikely.

He has an engineering degree from Georgia Tech, but I think this conservative Catholic school invited him to speak because of his fairly well-known conservative Catholic views. He's also one of the best kickers in the league, and the school is about an hour away from where his team plays their home games.

To the non believers. There's plenty in the Bible to have doubts about. There's more doubts without the Bible. If the Bible is not true then it would have been written by someone evil. A person who believes in Jesus would never write something in the Bible unless it was true. There's no one who could ever make up such a unique story as the Bible. As a Christian you have peace and joy that are unexplainable. You realize that our life on earth is nothing compared to eternity in heaven. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and you will be changed forever.

I don’t have any problem w butker speaking his mind or even promoting any religion. Go for it.
But it doesn’t look good for the college to have a graduation speaker say that most of the female graduates are looking forward to being married and having babies versus working and having a career.
But I don’t care. He can say whatever he wants.

This is what he said:
Quote: "Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."
His talk was outstanding and it reflects a deep problem with the NFL upper brass ........ not with Harrison Butker!

To be fair, many of the women at that particular college are just there to get their MRS degree. He did get a standing ovation for his remarks, after all.
