make up for wasting Derrick Hamilton's talent, CJ Spiller would have been converted to a slot receiver and James Davis would have gotten more touches, ultimately being the one in the CFB HOF.

his hands. He caught the ball with his body and wasn't capable of going high across the middle.
Spiller would have been wasted as a slot receiver. Loved JD though.

was fun to watch.
Now it's true that CJ should have never been an up-the-middle RB in the NFL. If he'd a just been used as a kick returner and occasional slot/scatback guy he could have been HOF IMO HTH YWIA.

Noodle was a good player and all, but I think WR was the only position he could play. Wasn’t he 6’4” or 6’5” or so? Spiller similarly was a natural RB, as evidenced by a decent pro career. Spiller was too good not to get touches, even with a bruiser like JD already in the backfield. That skill set was used in Buffalo as well I believe, sharing carries with a bigger back.
That being said, I think your premise that JD could have been HoF worthy if he hadn’t had to share touches may be correct.

but I differ in that I don't think he was a natural RB. He was never a true between-the-tackles RB and generally was really poor in getting the tough yards. If there ever was a player who excelled when given space and could make the Rob Spence bubble screen look brilliant, it was CJ.
I've always thought he was a lot of great things, but never thought of him as a great RB----his style was too difficult to replicate that it's seemed unusual to me having him coach far more traditional RB's. Time will tell if the experiment works I suppose.

By that logic, we should fire CJ and hire OJ Simpson or

Ricky Williams to coach running backs. Heck, I would even consider Yusef Kelly to be a better candidate.
