Don't take anything said on social media, including ESPN, as anything more than speculation, guessing and click baiting.
Until Graham Neff says something to the contrary I will continue to believe Clemson (and FSU) will be in a P2 conference by 2026, give or take 1 year.
Those two schools are not taking the actions they are taking without knowing where they are going. And, they aren't taking these actions to end up in the Big 12 or becoming an independent.

I concur with that sentiment. You can't really believe any of the public info they put out. They try to distance themselves from the truth of what's really going on as much as possible with the tampering rules in place and all. Clemson nor FSU have AAU status to join B1G, but obviously it is not a requirement any longer since Nebraska has joined without it. I think either school would be more desirable than Nebraska. And the SEC has always claimed they don't want to expand, and then continues to do so whenever given the chance to add more quality to the conference. There is no way these two conferences have no interest in adding these two teams! FSU and Clemson are the top two schools in the states they reside in, so they are most definitely on the wanted list.

Nebraska did not join without AAU status. They were an AAU school when the joined, but lost the accreditation some time later.

The B1G hasn't added a non-AAU member since 1896.
That is incorrect. Michigan State gained AAU membership in 1964. The Spartans joined the Big10 in 1950. Any school joining today that’s not AAU will be in a position to join via influence of the current Big10 members. Count on that.

Nebraska had AAU status when it joined B1G. It then lost it, and now it is trying to get it back by bringing the medical center -- which has historically been separate (like MUSC) -- under its umbrella.

I don't know how you can conclude that from Sankey 's words. It was coach-speak. No different than when a reporter might ask Dabo about the Florida State game and Dabo (like every other coach) provides a non-answer with a bunch of "we're just focused on this week" or "we're just trying to get better." Sankey understandably, isn't going to hint at anything right now.

conference alignments have happened. Schools have to declare they are leaving before being invited otherwise the “destination” conferences are at risk for tampering lawsuits from the “current” league.

That hasn't been true with all the other conference realignments. A&M leaked the info that Oklahoma and Texas were talking wirh the SEC. Nebraska going to the Big Ten and Colorado to the Pac-10 was widely known. Miami and Virginia Tech to the ACC was an entire soap opera.

Settlement to leave 1 year early after announcing they were leaving. There were no GOR etc back when Nebraska VT Miami left. And the Big East did throw accusations at the ACC with regard to tampering for some of those transitions. The stakes and $ are much higher now - the SEC and BT lawyers are quite adept and making sure the league office doesn’t say anything that would invite a lawsuit especially from another power conference

Sankey CAN'T comment on anything. This is EXACTLY what you would expect him to say. When Yormark bring us up specifically, that's a tell-tale sign we are NOT going Big 12.

Colorado had already left the Pac 12, there were no more years left on the Pac12 media deal, and there 9 teams left in the Pac 12. Oh yea Oregon and Washington got partial shares.
Yep that's the same as Clemson and FSU fighting 12 years left on a media rights deal.
Exactly the same...
Do I think it really changes anything today? Probably not, but that was an ugly PR mess for the Noles.

Keep thinking this if you want. I’ll wager the SEC is absolutely not done adding. I’d bet my life savings that the SEC will add more teams in the next 5-10 years. Some of yall are not patient. Yall think everything is happening today. Some of this won’t play out for another year or so. Be patient. Clemson will land in either the SEC or B1G and my money is the SEC due to ESPN.
