Check out the the nice blocking on the edge by Olsen Pat-Henry (11) and Brinny (9). They took both edge defenders out of the play. Also love seeing Sadler (50) pancaking his assignment 7 yards downfield in the second level. App State had 9 guys in the box! https://x.com/ACCFootball/status/1832578596764053902

I pointed this out to my friend live and he caught it on the replay board.

At 9 seconds in the video. App St near side safety (#4) is tracking Mafah. Mafah is between the hashes, near the high side hash and slightly drifting closer to the hash. The safety (#4) is loading his right arm up to dive and swipe at Mafah's heel. He was close enough that it would have made contact, less than a yard behind him. Right as he is about to dive, Mafah shifts about 4 degrees to the right and back to the center of the field, probably because he saw the high side DB (covering Wesco) coming at him with a decent angle. That threw off #4's attempt to dive and caused him to stumble. While he was recovering from the stumble, Mafah increased the gap to about 3 yards. By the time #4 recovered, he gave up the chase. Wesco had sprinted in front of the high side DB and no one else had a shot.

If Mafah doesn't make that slight shift to the right at the 36, he probably doesn't keep running for the next 64 yards.

The TV feed doesn't show the shift as good. The stadium feed was different from the TV feed. I'm pretty sure it was the trailing skycam feed on the screen. That showed his slight shift a lot better.
