Old Peach Bowl

I recall several Gator Bowls, including Stanford, Woody Hayes, and Marino. But Peach Bowl (was it '79?), at old Fulton County Stadium was fun, but freezing cold and a loss to Swearingen and Baylor. Had a few mixed drinks slip right out of my freezing , and oversized hands. Does anyone recall Zack Mills, the Tiger, wrestling bear mascot on the sidelines, a couple of blocked punts...very fuzzy now.

I used to get free tickets to that bowl every year. Always seemed to be drizzly and cold no matter what year.

The Tiger wrestled the best right in front of me. I was on the front row. The bear started getting serious and scared Zack to death. He ran away as fast as he could while the handlers tried to hold the bear back.
Also, the second coldest I’ve ever been in my life.

Yep…that was 1979 against Baylor. Billy Lott was our Quarterback.

Marino wasn't who played QB when we played Pitt in the Gator Bowl. The Pitt QB was Matt Cavanaugh. We never played against Marino.

I think Marino would have been a freshman in the Fall of 1979. I remember going to the bowl game against Pitt in Florida. We borrowed my grandpa’s motor home and I don’t recall what year it was in the 70’s. I do remember seeing another motor home with a sign on it that said “Poot on Pitt” and my 12-13 year old self thought that was hilarious 😆

Or Swearingon, either for Baylor, I messed that up entirely. We need Tigernet to fact check the next debate...vp's I guess.

Yes. I was there and didn’t dress warm enough. He shouldn’t have poked the real bear.
