Let's say we don't get Putnam for whatever reason, who are our next main 4 realistic OL targets? Thanks ahead of time.

The guys they should really go after who should still be available are Tristan Miller and Darius Washington. Beyond that with who could be available probably project players. Also Enokk Vimahi if he's available but they haven't even sniffed up that tree.

I hope we sign 3 more even if they are all somewhat projects. I hope we sign 4 total OL and 1 DT. I don't care about landing Crouch at all.

Absolutely. The goal should be 4 OL a year regardless. I'm not sure who's going to be left but I'd expect Dabo and Scott to take over a bit and start throwing their weight around. We have the worst OL class in the all the power 5 there's no reason for that with all the team success and the talent in the offensive backfield.

Also, it seems like OL often redshirt and are redshirt sophomores until they are completely ready. Then there are all of the injuries that can happen. I hope we land 4 this year.

Absolutely, which is why we should really take 4 a year every year. The problem we have right now with taking projects is the relative depth and the fact that we may need them early. Some schools, primarily in the Big 10 make it work because the take a lot of projects but they keep a steady pipeline, which we don't have with the way the numbers work out.

We'll take 3

Look for 1 of the 3 DE's to move to DT and another one move to OL.

I could see Cash winding up switching sides but I think that both Ruke and Reuben both wind up moving inside at least partially as hybrid 3 technique type players.

That the Jackson Carmen commitment last year literally came out of nowhere right??

We wanted Putnam AND the Surprise.

.I do feel like the surprise Anna was talking about is on the OL. Not any super secret info, just a feeling .The way she pumped it, is like everyone would know if she gave away the position.

Only so many rabbits to be pulled out of hats. But the main issue is it’s 3 days until signing day and we have 1 OL commit. After signing 2 last year. It likely won’t make much difference in 2019 but you’re putting yourself in a position to either be terrifyingly thin in 2020 or have to rely on multiple true freshman OL. And based on the talent and depth everywhere else on the roster, there’s really no defense for it.

Rarely happens for us on the OL. Odds are against it. I hope so though.

Again I will point to Jackson Carmen last year!
“No possible way” that young man was lleaving Ohio and playing for anyone else other than Urban. ??
Well?? Where is the young man at?
This coaching staff is stepping it up on OL recruitment. My guess is it really is falling under the radar. ??

Yes it rarely happens. It may, but it's not our strength. The odds are against it this year. I hope so though.

Getting Carman was great and he should be a really good starter next year but it doesn't mean that can be replicated every class.

Starting to get a little thin at OL depth
Dec 17, 2018, 12:26 AM

The OL recruiting hasn't really concerned me until I looked at our depth chart.
These guys are gone for 2019: Justin Falcinelli #50 Grad Student (Starter) Pat Godfrey #64 Grad Student Mitch Hyatt #75 Senior (Starter)
Possibly Gone/But Doubtfully John Simpson #74 Junior (Starter) Sean Pollard #76 Junior (Starter)
Then the rest line up as follows Gage Cervenka #59 RS Junior (Co-Starter) Cade Stewart #62 RS Sophomore Matt Bockhorst #65 RS Freshman Noah DeHond #68 RS Freshman (Co-Starter) Seth Penner #70 RS Junior Jordan McFadden #71 Freshman Blake Vinson #72 RS Freshman Tremayne Anchrum #73 Junior (Starter) Zach Giella #77 RS Junior Chandler Reeves #78 RS Sophomore Jackson Carman #79 Freshman
And let's not forget our best blocking TE's that will be leaving this year. Garrett Williams #44 RS Junior Milan Richard #80 RS Senior Cannon Smith #84 RS Senior
I trust the coaches know where the younger guys are in their development, but us only have 1 OL on the 2019 recruiting board has to cause concern. These guys THE BEST chance we have at continuing this great streak of dominance. (Offensively Speaking)
We all understand how much we loose on the Defensive side of the ball already, but the depth is a little better on that side IMO....
