OL Recruiting

Just saw that AJ Dennis has a crystal ball for Penn State. It also appears Thurmon is leaning towards Auburn. With only OL commit it appears there will be three options. 1. start looking for fallback candidates. 2. See what happens with the coaching carousel and hope for some decommits taking a last minute look at us. 3. Go portal.

We are only 5 weeks out, hard to believe we have been able to lock in just one commit.

At a minimum we lose Putnam and Tucker I would guess. From there you have to wonder about Williams and Pennington. Williams injuries and Pennington very little playing time plus passed by Sewell. Really wonder what Reed's health issue is, CDS made it sound like it was a little concerning.

first 3 options should be playing the portal game.***

I don't want to get in a debate about changing coaches but I wish we could add someone to the staff with strong midwestern roots and an offensive line background. I'd love to see someone with good recruiting chops from the midwest who could tap into Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana markets and drive some OL prospects our way.

It just seems like the midwest is not a market where we have had much success and it feels like we need an insider from the Big 10 that could open up that corridor.

I agree with this . Clemson has become known for recruiting very well at the skill positions and I am happy for that but I wouldn't mind having a bit more balance when it comes to the recruiting makeup. I am not naive enough to think 5* linemen grow on trees and understand that it's one of the hardest positions in recruiting to land, but having someone on staff with strong Midwest ties seems like a good idea to start making inroads to the where them big hay slingin, cornfed fellas are located
