Champagne for breakfast and a sherman in my hand....

OBS gives out schollies.....and takes them away, as he sees fit. That much is well-established.

scholarships but, sometimes, it is necessary.

If I'm not mistaken....

the individual who's in charge of academics for usuck football players (from the ath dept) is the same woman who ran unc's tutor program for their football team. She left chapelhole in a bit of a hurry a few years ago for some reason

So, you are saying they won't be able to sign 130 over 5

Sep 25, 2014, 11:24 PM

years anymore. Or, will they just flunk them out as necessary?

you're missing the point...it's a HUGE advantage

What is actually allows Spurrier to do...is guarantee players a four-year scholarship when they enroll. Right now, in the NCAA, scholarships are year-to-year, and renew at the program's discretion, every year.

If you read the language in this article, what it means is that if a player leaves in good standing - the University can then give that player an equivalent scholarship - while still cutting him (or her) from the team.

It's a huge, huge, HUGE edge in recruiting, because it means that as long as you maintain your academic standing, and as long as you don't get into trouble, your scholarship is guaranteed - which was not formerly permitted.

Your place on the team isn't guaranteed, mind, so if you turn out to be a goat, the axe will still fall, and probably much faster...they just aren't taking away a player's scholarship in the process. And, incidentally, this probably won't hurt their APR either, because they'll have more "cut" players graduating.

Every "major" university is going to have to follow suit, or be left behind. The smaller ones probably can't afford it.

There will be more players kicked off the team, and out of school at USUC now more than ever, for breaking team rules. I can hear Slurrier now, well, he just couldn't play by the team rules. And that is why we always over sign 5 to 10 players over scholarship allowances . Its b/c we will always have guys that can't go by the rules. What do you want me to do Ron!!!

It says scholarship, not athletic scholarship.

Sep 26, 2014, 8:31 AM

It means if you take an athletic scholarship and SOS tosses your ### off the team you may continue to expect the same financial advantage. Obviously the athletic department won't be footing the bill.

It turns SOS loose to throw as many off the team as he wants without any player's parent needing to fear.

That's the power of the SEC bucks and the rest of college football will follow suit or fall further behind the SEC.

Team rules @ Scar :
1. Play better than your understudy , or the new fab recruit at your position.
2. No hold-ups on campus without wearing your helmet , so the victim doesn't see your face.
3. Coach Spurrier is to never be doubted , and reverance is encouraged.
