I have seen the reporting of it, but what rationale, if any, is the administration giving for doing this?

I imagine we will see pics in the media shortly of the NG holding machine guns standing on a street corner in Washington, DC. When we do, it will be "Mission Accomplished".

There are ~10,000 cops in Washington DC, and there will be 200 NG assisting with patrol duties. Do we really expect to see a quantifiable difference in crime? If so, why not put 200 more cops on OT to patrol?

I have been very critical of Trump at times. I did not vote for Trump in 2020. I do not support him now. So no, anyone who ctiticizes Trump is NOT consumed with overpowering partisan hate. I have never, ever said or implied that. Trump deserves plenty of criticism.

If you know that Trump is doing this and everithing else merely as a distraction, and uf you know the Epstein files contain lots of dirt on Trump, then you win. If you could present what yoi know to an impartial jury and convince them of Trump's wrondoing in the Epstein files, you win.

Is it reasonable to think that Trump is doing things to distract? Probably, its certainly not unreasonable. Thats not what Im arguing at all. I'm saying that something is responsible for the certainty with which these claims are being made in the face of current evidence. I assume it is blind partisan hatred based on what I see in here.

TNet’s lunatic fringe is trying to wear you down with endless repetition of ridiculous arguments as to why Trump has ordered Nat Guard to take control of policing activities in DC.

BTW, the DC chapter of the police union applauds Trump’s move, despite the (?) protest (*) from the DC police chief aka former Equity Officer of DC.

TNet’s lunatic fringe hates DOGE almost as much as Trump because (1) DOGE was Trump’s idea -&- he got it started and (2) DOGE led to the near total destruction of the USAID money laundering / Democrat Party political activism department.

This matters because ‘Big Balz’ was a well known DOGE guy. Trump learned what happened to Big Balz, his employee at DOGE, and (as any decent person would do) was motivated to get started with the ‘rehabilitation’ of DC that he had often said was very much needed.

All of the Lunatic Lefties, desperate in their repeated failures to pin any legitimate failures on Trump, are casting hooks with no bait back into the water. Really, at this point, all they can do is to try to socially shame those people who do not share their misery.

There are two and ONLY two sides, two possible answers or opinions to every single problem or issue. EVERYTHING is divided along those lines, and you're either an ally or an enemy. Everybody is angrily screaming past each other. Clear, objective thinking is out the window. Just fight and win, and pat yourself on the back for being right.

of characterizing my response as a defense of Trump. Here's a breakdown:

old slac claimed that Trump's actions are an attempt to distract from the Epstein files/

I replied that a lot of people who have no way of knowing, which is an undeniable fact, really hope it's true.

soccer says that's me defending Trump.

I correctly point out that my response has nothing to do with whether or not Trump is doing this as a distraction, or how I personally feel about Trump. Rather, my response is about how some people are responding to and interpreting his actions, and the fact that they can't possibly know his reasons one way or the other. They do not know, no matter how much they hate Trump, no matter how justified that hate is, that Trump is doing this as a distraction. I don't claim to know either.

Chuckston's response is that me stating that undeniable truth is me claiming that anybody who criticizes Trump "has an intense overpowering hatred of Trump" and a "hatred and self-righteousness has won over reason and any attempt at objectivity" and "blinded by partisan hatred" and is "weak and pathetic." It's not, I never said that applies to anybody who criticizes Trump; rather it's people who use faulty logic to make claims about Trump as if they were fact.

soccer piles on again and says, sarcastically, "yeah, but he's not defending Trump" as if Chuckston's false claim somehow supports the idea that I was.

Then you step in with reason. Thank you.

You really can't make this shid up. I point out truth that conflicts with the narrative, and I'm "defending Trump". I point out the flaws in their reasoning, and that's just further proof that I'm defending Trump.

For the gazillionth time, I do not "support Trump", and I did not vote for him, and I'll be glad when we can move on from this shidshow. I may agree with some things he says and does, and not others, and whether or not I do so has nothing to do with party affiliation or attachement to any politician. I have biases like everybody else on here, but I try to evaluate every situation on it's own merits, apart from who does it or supports it. There are apparently a lot of people who can't comprehend such an outrageous approach.

about Trump. That has ZERO to do with my point here. The fact that that sails right over everbody's head makes my point. Facts and reason seem to have no place in today's environment. Discussing the merits of anything Trump says or does can't be done without first assigning every participant a "side" and then agreeing or disagreeing and discrediting from there. Analyzing and discussing each act or situation separately on it's own merits is imposible. Just choose a side and fight.

The real reason this happened is pretty simple, it’s that Trump watches a lot of Fox News.

Big Balls getting carjacked got a lot of air time, Trump sees this, Trump says “We need to clean up DC crime!”, and the intellectual Zambonis come behind him and clean up what he meant and why he’s 100% totally right. They make some nominal action, they’ll get a headline or two, then everyone will forget about it in two weeks because at the end of the day it’s really ridiculous to think you can solve violent crime by putting dudes in helmets on the street.

I think its a legitimate attempt to make things safer for the residents of DC, who seem bound and determined to keep voting for people who hate their guts and couldn't care less if they're murdered in the streets. A nice side benefit is that it keeps the weirdo left talking about how amazingly safe and crime free DC is when any normal person knows its a crime ridden cesspool run by corrupt incompetents. Perhaps the biggest win of Trump part 2 is his ability to keep the Dems taking the losing side of 80/20 issues and this is but the latest example.

It's not an Epstein distraction. He and his cronies had this plan long ago. DC is a test run for taking control and propping up "free cities" controlled by corporations and ultimately answering to him. They'll see if this works and then move on to take over other blue cities and oust their leadership. And they hope they can kill some protestors along the way to create civil unrest.

Remember just a couple months ago, Trump and Noem both said that ICE needs to be in cities that voted Democrat to "liberate" them.

“We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate this city from the socialist and burdensome leadership that this Governor Newsom and this mayor placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into this city,'' Noem said, echoing President Trump’s criticism against California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

Had that been received a little more warmly, we'd be well ahead of just now deploying NG in DC, but since people were mostly "yo, WHAT?", it's obvious it needs a little more conditioning and massaging. The plan marches on, regardless.

There is a Primary reason and a Secondary reason

1

Aug 13, 2025, 8:45 PM
Reply

The Primary Reason is to use his executive authority first a uniquely set up city (DC is not an independent city like all of the others in America. It is the specific territory of the US federal government) to fix the rampant crime in this city so that it becomes safe again. ‘Big Balz’ DOGE worker, a person whose clever nom de guerre garnered disproportionate attention to both the WH and the general public, got hurt in classic DC violence; this was the impetus that changed Trump from simply talking (repeatedly) about the need to ‘take control’ of DC to fix its crime problem to take action.

The Primary Reason is simply explained via the Occam’s Razor principle; the simplest and most logical reason is usually correct.

xxxxxxx

The Secondary Reason is that the political opportunity was ripe for the ‘takeover’ of the policing / law enforcement aspects of DC’s mismanagement by popularly elected city leaders. DC, as run by Democrat party elected politicians, failed dramatically in their role of managing the city. The DC situation is highly similar to numerous other miserable big cities that are run by Democrat Party officials.
(*). By taking control of the policing function (BTW, the National Guard will work closely with the DC police … whose rank &file officers applaud Trump’s move), Trump will be a big time political winner whether or not hoards if criminals are arrested + imprisoned. The only thing that matters is that violent crime virtually disappears in DC, and that DC’s homeless population gets moved to safe housing somewhere else in America. EVEN IF the DC civilian courts decide to not imprison (the large majority) of violent criminals who get arrested by the Nat Guard & DC police, Trump can point out that DC’s criminal laws are what has been ruining DC.
(*). Washington DC will thus become the template for how a big city’s crime problem gets fixed; the other Democrat run big cities will look awful by comparison. The political optics for the Democrats and their failed governing policies will be devastating for the Democrats in upcoming elections … unless they follow Trump’s lead and copy his ‘get tough on crime / fix homelessness’ approach. Hades will freeze over before that happens.
