There has already been student walk outs at state schools over DeSantis led change to curriculum that is mainly about the black experience in America) not taking a side here on CRT or anything complicated like that- just asking how it will affect black students and potential recruits going to school down there. This thing is getting more and more traction. Black athletes and their families WILL take notice. They are not uninformed and stupid about what their history means to them. NIL cannot and will not hold them in or above this.

The percentage of black population is dropping in this country and the corresponding history will become less relevant. The black population dropped from 13% last year to 12% this year and is projected to be 10% in 5 years.
With the changes of the percentage of population both white foundational history and black history will take a back seat to other racial history.
The history of the Cuban migration is more important now in Florida than most other types of history.

The percentage of AA population is dropping because of growth in other racial populations. I don't think the number of African Americans in our population is decreasing.

DeSantis is not keeping anyone from learning American history or the Civil War or slavery. The 1619 project is absolute ######## and I can give you black academic thought leaders that are lifelong, progressive Democrats that say the exact same thing, people like John McWhorter, that push back against BLM and the ######## lies about cops running down Black people, and there is no don’t say gay bill, again lies and propaganda from the left, all he said, was you can’t teach sex the kids in elementary school, which is never happened in America, and only groomers and pedophiles want to teach elementary children about sex heterosexual or otherwise, and critical race theory is Marxist ######## that comes out of 1960s Marxist postmodernist France that migrated to American universities in the 70s and 80s. I learned that the Civil War was absolute ######## and was not about slavery, but Lincoln, forcing the south back into the union, and that the emancipation proclamation, freed zero slaves and all the other constitutional rights that Lincoln trampled all over as the most authoritarian president in American history from a black history teacher in high school in South Carolina low country back in the 1980s. So to say that the south is not teaching history or any of this is BS! I learned it in Dorchester County from a black teacher in high school in the early 1980s.

Many will view his attacks on access to content in schools and higher education as similar to plantation owners and slaveholders keeping people illiterate back in the day. Programs in other states will definitely use this as a recruiting tool regardless of how sound an argument that is.

Maybe I heard it wrongly. But here’s the thing- it seems to be a correction on non-white “stuff.” I just wonder regardless of its inherent validity whether it will make some black parents and athletes pause. What are the stats for black voters that support him? I know you have a few black people (your friends, coworker, etc, etc) who have and would vote for him because they too are fed up with wokeness “agenda.” I’m talking about will the majority of black American parents take notice (regardless of whether they got it all right or are bamboozled in your opinion) and wondering how and whether his recent decisions in these areas will affect college choices of recruits. Not arguing whether DeSantis is right or wrong!!!

The constant throwing racial reviews in front of students and public only continues this racial discussion. For the most part the racial issue is fabricated. I live in a town with 43% blacks, there are plenty of interracial relationships, and we all still hold the door open for one another at stores, live in same communities, have interracial communities. My favorite neighbors are a black family from New york and wife was born in Haiti.
There is a false narrative by the media that continues to tell a fake story. Racist people do exist but racism in America is not a problem. Its the media and politics that promote this story. They need to generate stories. BLM needs there to be an issue so they can get more funds.
The only ppl screaming racism are people with agendas. Otherwise, come visit me and my neighbors as we cook out, feed my backyard chickens, cut collards from their gaarden, and plant some okra and sunflowers around our 3ac and $700k properties.

AA history is telling the history of a certain group of people. That includes the terrible aspects of slavery and Jim Crow and literally everything that happened. Hiding nothing.
Critical Race theory isn't history. It's an ideology that makes assumptions based on the identity people are born with. It assumes that every institution in the country is founded, usually primarily, with racism as its core motivation. It doesn't look to uncover anything. It looks to start with an assumption, and then rewire everyone's perception based on that assumption. It's indoctrination.
History is the opposite. History is supposed to start with the honest pursuit of facts/perspectives and then encourages all people to acknowledge their bias and work to find something as close to the truth of "what" happened and "why" it happened. There can be no assumptions in history. It's all about conclusions, and then challenging those conclusions. Based on evidence.
