Just another example of MAGA having zero political identity other than supporting Trump no matter what. Remember when Republicans used to be conservative? Good times.

The Inflation Reduction Act allowed Medicare to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies. HHS negotiated the first 10 drugs and had a full schedule of additional drugs to follow.
This disappeared in Jan 22 with an executive order, so now Trump is going to do the same effing thing, but with HIS name in it, and his minions with broken internet will claim a stunning victory as Trump, yet again, fixes a problem that he created in the first place.
I have to wonder if you’re being intentionally disingenuous, or just dumb.

You think a president trying to set prices on goods is a CONSERVATIVE initiative?

How are you this stupid?
The big pharma companies give millions to Dems, but even more to Pubs.
You think this EO is going to happen? Then you're extra dumb.
Now here's where you hit peak dumb: Trump already tried this before in his first term and a federal judge shut it down.
Jesus ####### Christ, will y'all please read a high school government textbook.

Yeah, not sure I agree with this unless some of this will be done by fewer regulations.
I dunno - if the drug companies will be forced to raise prices elsewhere, that might be okay.
The devil is in the details.

Don't have a problem with the govt stopping drug companies from price gouging American consumers while they practically give those same drugs away for free in many other parts of the world.

Context about why Trump plan is different from Socialist Demicrats
1
May 12, 2025, 10:24 AM
|
|
The Trump plan does not force drug companies to cut drug prices.
Rather, Trump’s drug policy is a mandate that America gets MFN ( Most Favored Nation) pricing on pharmaceuticals.
Here’s additional context. For many years, Europe had threatened the U.S. pharmaceutical companies that, in the absence of getting very low prices (by “low,” I mean below the prices that would cover the fixed costs [R&D, regulatory / IT functions, etc], the EU countries would ignore patent rights and proceed to make generic offsets to the US mfg’d drugs.
Previous administrations under G.H.W.Bush, Clinton, G.W.Bush, Obama, and Biden had never thought of a way to punish European for their threats to blackmail US pharma companies. Trump, on the other hand, has shown he won’t kitty-foot around with the whining European governments.
Those days are done. Trump will deploy the tariff threat against any EU country that tries that stunt.
(*). The adjustment is now the responsibility of the pharma companies. They can make the selling price adjustments across the EU and American markets to generate the profits that they need to sustain their business models.
I’ll sit back and watch the TDSers come around and thank Trump for this tremendous policy.

Yes.
The EO forces Congress to get off their duffs, instead of just fundraising.
Congress has long ago ceased to pretend to be a leadership branch of the government.
EO’s are also not something new. Trump is using the tools in his tool box. Good for him, and good for America.

I support good EO’s.
Biden’s EO’s were harmful to America.
Trump EO’d away many of Biden’s EO’s.
The ‘America gets most favored nation’ pricing status for drugs is a good EO. Congress will, in a rare case of widespread bi-partisan support, compose a bill to codify Trump’s EO. It will then become a law as passed by Congress.
That will prove that Trump’s ‘drug price’ EO is a good one.

what was the point of that comment? You think I think this is something new?
Actually, the way it's supposed to work in cases like this is that the POTUS is supposed to lead and work with Congress on solving problems. I agree Congress, as a general statement, has done a poor job over the last 20+ yrs, but that doesn't mean the right way is to just work around them.
How about President Trump actually lead on an issue...make his case...get the public and Congress behind him and effect LASTING change. Immigration is probably an even better example of where we need this and not all the d@%n EOs.
