Got dang. I think True Believer leading into Wind Behind the Rain seems like a direct shot at blaming Amanda for the split. And John Prine could have written Don't be Tough.

Which I believe is a metaphor for when he drinks red wine with his new teeth.

I really was a true believer babe All your girlfriends say I broke your ####### heart And I don’t like it And there’s a letter on the nightstand I don’t think I’ll ever read Well I finally found a match But you kept daring me to strike it So I have to let it burn To let it be
Like the stain on your teeth I’m as stubborn as wine Just when you get think I’m beaten I get up every time So when we pass on the highway I’ll smile and I’ll wave But I’ll always be a true believer babe”

I think so too. He appears to be a "dry drunk" who hasn't worked the steps

and doesn't know how to take accountability.
Now, normally it's frowned upon to "take another drunk's inventory", but he reminds me of guys I see in the program who are still miserable because they aint figured out that alcohol and drugs aren't the problem. It's what's between their ears that's the problem.
I love his music too and it's always inspired me in some way, but his HBO documentary made me realize he's a raging narcissist and control freak. Now, obviously he's doing some things right.
He's BJ Barham with a much bigger ego. BJ seems to have learned from his past, I'm not sure Jason has from afar.

rock album of the past. If you can put Turnpike Troubadours in that category, I would say that Diamonds and Gasoline is up there too (even though that one's a little older). The Nashville Sound is up there too, but I don't think he's been able to recapture the magic of Southeastern.
