In other words - the familiar lament... we ain't played nobody. Then: "Bama is number 6, which means Clemson will be number 5". And they go on to explain away why Bama is #6... (they were fully expecting us to be #6). Then the 5 seed is displayed and it's Michigan. The reaction: "WHOA!" (They all sound shocked). "Now, everybody expected to see Clemson here". And again, a long explanation of why Michigan is only #5. Then - "I wonder why Clemson is #4." "So, interesting..."

but they have been the strongest football conference during the playoff era. Like it or not, the SEC has the most playoff appearances, the most playoff wins, and the most national championships since the playoffs started in the 2014 season.
I think we can all agree that Tennessee and Georgia should be ranked ahead of us, based on their body of work this year compared to ours. I think we can also agree that we should be ranked ahead of Alabama.
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED.
I haven't heard many analysts argue for Alabama to be ranked ahead of us right now, so SEC bias didn't creep into the playoff rankings overall.
The Big 10 currently has two teams - Ohio State and Michigan - in the top 5. Are you calling this Big 10 bias?
The debate seems to be whether we should be #4 or Michigan should be #4. Again, a reasonable discussion at this point in my opinion. Not bias.
So right now, the SEC has 3 teams in the top 6, and the Big 10 has 2. The ACC has 1. These are the facts. This doesn't make Clemson inferior. It also doesn't mean that there is bias. But the perception is that the SEC and Big 10 are stronger football conferences than the ACC, at least when it comes to having multiple elite, top 10 type teams. This can't really be argued at this point.

The fact that we were ranked #4 to start the season shows just how much credit we now get as a program. To be ranked #4, after failing to win our division last year, much less our conference, is a huge vote of confidence we probably didn't deserve - but we got it. And this was from media members who supposedly hate Clemson. LOL.
