CFB Obituary

13

May 3, 2023, 11:46 PM

Good ol' college football... it has done died. Goodbye Bear... see ya' Woody... it was always fun Vince... keep 'em on the fairway Steve... center up that plow Danny... always liked your name Shug... still remember the 1970 game Darrell... been a long time Bud... and on and on..

All the greats have faded and most are gone.. and taken the game we loved with them.

A faint silhouette will take the field in 2024, but it'll never be the same. Players will move from team to team like mercenaries - the QB who was your hero this year will stab you in the back next year. Same with the RB's and the WR's and the DL's. We won't care about recruiting. It won't matter. It doesn't matter now. The only difference between the big league and the little league will be the age of the players. Furman? Troy? App State? Forget it. Your budgets dried up. Nobody cares. Probably nobody ever cared really. NIL rhymes with ill for a reason. It all made us sick and we all died. Just give the trophy to Nick or Kirby. They always wanted it more anyway.

Oh well... I always did like walking in the woods on Saturdays. Now where's my hiking stick.

See you boys.

Starting off the day with another dumb post. Last season was a another great season and this year will be also. Football has not changed one bit because teams suit up and the best team will win the National Championship.

I am with you it's not the same game. Changes always come and we don't all have to agree with what it brings. all we can do is adjust and move forward.

I just read that the Private School Leage in NC is allowing NIL this coming year.

Or, being optimistic....

....maybe Clemson (and FSU) will go into big time football and become part of the official minor league of the NFL. They will start drafting players out of HS, trading them, promoting them to NFL, and not making even the least amount of academics required.

Then, we could root for Furman or Presbyterian who will be recruiting kids who love the game of football and want to go to college to get an education. Those schools could even have some sort of dual enrollment package where a kid could take classes from Clemson (say he wanted to be an engineer or chemist) and play football at Furman.

Then, we'd have what we thought college football was all about, kids going to college and playing football for the love of the game.
