how's y'all's boy Shipley doing ? still feel like if we handed it off to him we'd have beat Carolina??
just looked at the average yards per carry he had vs Syracuse ... you can't run that 3 times in a row with the average yards per carry and get a first down
Go DJU . glad to see you get a top10W

DJ is not doing great. He is the same as he was at Clemson. Very average QB.
Not sure we win yesterday with DJ to be honest. And it is for sure a closer game. Cade made some plays and great throws yesterday.

Very specific undertones. And they're not related to football.
According to statistics, DJ is actually playing worse this year. You know #### well Clemson would have blown the doors off the Utah team Oregon St. played.
Also, Shipley and DJ play different positions?

season than Shipley is the most ridiculous concept I've heard this entire football year, and believe me, there have been plenty of idiots out there trying. And fyi, I've watched all of OSU's games through and through.
Neither Ship nor Mafah had a great day against the Cuse - less than 3 ypc for both until Mafah broke the one run. But notably, the Coaches don't run Mafah up the A-gap repeatedly like they do Shipley. Dabo Swinney is committed to the A-gap run as a means of bringing the defense up and into compressed space. He's been running it for more than a decade now the same way. Ship makes that run better than Mafah because he's quicker to the hole, smaller, and generally has better vision. So Ship has to do the grunt work, while Mafah lives more outside the Guards and Tackles.
Unfortunately, we haven't blocked the A-gap well this year at all. And it shows in Ship's stats. Doesn't mean Mafah's better or DJU for that matter. Just means we block the A-gap poorly with a sub-par O-line.
As to DJU, OSU and Coach Smith are letting him play to his strengths, which is what Swinney should have done more. Overall he has played pretty well, pretty unevenly though, and there's been far too few points put on the board against good defenses. He's a pitcher playing QB, and hopefully will be able to make something of a go of it with the Dodgers. He'll never make it in the NFL - not gonna happen.
DJU throws a beautiful ball, I can't deny, but in that he reminds me of Tajh Boyd. Boyd in my opinion had the best deep ball of any Clemson QB ever. Ever. Some say it was DW4, but I say that's hogwash. Plus you have to remember that Boyd was throwing to the likes of Sammy, D-Hop, Charone Peake, and even Jaron Brown. Most of 'em he hit right in stride. But neither DJU not Tajh had the mind for pro ball, and that's too bad. Unfortunately, it takes the whole package to succeed at the QB1 position.

Folks did not hate DJ, folks hated having poor play at the QB position. If you look at DJ’s stats this year, they are average
Shirley’s stats was the result of Cuse focusing on stopping the run and very average OL play

Dj was and still is a terrible quarterback. His statline that so many seem to be bragging about last game was 14-25, 204 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT.
In 3 games Against non-cream puff schools, he has 3 TDs and 4 INTs
He is still straight garbage, and his dad is still a fat tool.

I'm more optimistic on DJ than most around here, that being said the DJ hype is ridiculous. Bugger was on TV being like "look how successful this transfer QB is, a story we see a lot".
His season stats are OK. They are only ok because of trash competition. His stats against decent teams are horrible, worse than his at Clemson.

If you want to get technical, your math is off. Shipley averaged 3.38 yards per carry against Syracuse.
3.38 * 3 = 10.14, so that would actually be a first down.

and if you look over the years very few big games vs big time opponents
if you think and undefeated asyracuse team last year and a top 10 wake a two years ago were legit teams . then ok
but my argument is this . Will Shipley has never been him when we play good teams. and now his 3 yards per carry trend has been for more than 50% of game s
when DJ had a rough phase , it was because he was bad
and just maybe ... his RB didn't help at all

3 years into being a starter
he looks more likely to trip on his linemen while standing behind them waiting
then he is to break up field .
but if y'all like these 1 yard wait behind OL until you're tackled
then be it
i liked DJ . he could thread it (1/10 throws) just as Shipley runs for 10 every once in a while

First Team All-ACC at three positions. And ever is a really long time...
You don't cherry pick stats, good teams are good teams for good reasons. _____
Suffice to say Clemson sophomore running back Will Shipley is reaping the benefits of his hard work.
Three times over.
On Tuesday, Shipley was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference first team as a running back as well as an all-purpose and special teams player. He became the first player in conference history to earn first-team honors at three positions.

and armed with only 5% of the total information, would have likely proven you wrong.
DJU played fine leading Clemson to 7-0, but it was the Syracuse game where the wheels came off, again. Cade's only saving grace in relief was not making a catastrophic error, but his performance wasn't winning the starting job.
In Cade's own words he was slow to pick up college defenses, thanked DJU and staff for helping him through.

I get your point, but the struggles of the oline do impact the back more. You can cover up some oline issues in the passing game whereas there is no hiding in the run game for example.
That being said, Ship is a good player, but lacks a little vision and speed. But still a really good player nonetheless.
I don’t think I would say DJ is a good QB at the collegiate level. Thus, I disagree with your point.
Position by position comparison Ship>DJ.

Holding them together??? He plays no better than the QB they had last year and is looking worse each week. Hes back in the same situation where a staff is wasting snaps on him they should be giving to a more talented freshman QB.
Shipley took over games and won games #### near alone the past 2 years. Youre one of those clowns who thinks Mafah is significantly better when that simply is not true. Shipley getting banged up the middle all year, yea something has changed, playcalling. Riley still has not figured out how to use shipley, he will eventually.

I would say that Ship is an above average RB that is very versatile. Does not have great game or breakaway speed. The oline does not do him or Phil any favors though.
DJ was average at best. So I would say Ship does perform better than DJ especially given the fact that the running back is somewhat more reliant on the oline doing its job.

not because he was a bad pick.
Also, he, his family, coaches and anyone advising him helped choose Clemson - it's a two way street.
Whatever happened to DJ seems in DJ's own words to be between the ears. The most honest comment I'd seen come out of his camp, was that Oregon State was a blessing, because at Clemson he was constantly in the spotlight, constantly the center of attention, while at Oregon State he and his gf could be anonymous. He found some peace there.
He suffered under the pressure at Clemson was seeing a counselor, and it's not beyond the pale of reason to believe his family situation compounded the issue.

I bombed a few engineering and math classes. They made me see a counselor... not a tutor. lol
I think it's one hundred percent his personality didn't jive with the culture of Clemson. The Southeast is awesome if you click with it, he didn't.

I'll take the young man at his word and Clemson isn't...

exactly the SE any longer as many here have bemoaned. He seemed to love Clemson and all it was about, just shied from the spotlight and following DW4 & Trevor?
And that's pretty funny, are tutors considered the debil now?

Yeah, sometimes you're thrusted into the limelight and really don't belong there, and I couldn't imagine following the best of the best. It's like no matter how good you do, it's not going to be good enough, at least to the fan base.
And maybe tutor's are minions of the debil, afterall they spoke in languages I couldn't comprehend and wore no deodorant.

DJ looks like the same QB he's always been and 'Cuse clearly prioritized stopping the run so Cade would have to beat them thorough the air, which he did

The other night the announcers were talking about how average his performance had been and that the only reason they won was because the Utah offense had no one on left to make a play. They were going over and over about all the things he needs to get better at still and he’s in his 3rd year starting.

Syracuse has the number 2 defense in the entire country in terms of yards allowed per play. No slouch.

how's y'all's boy Shipley doing ? still feel like if we handed it off to him we'd have beat Carolina??
just looked at the average yards per carry he had vs Syracuse ... you can't run that 3 times in a row with the average yards per carry and get a first down
Go DJU . glad to see you get a top10W
... Do not always love the predictability of play calls and the inconsistent OL/TE/WR blocking, but Ship is rock solid with effort and toughness.
