I think he inherited a team that just wasn't very good and the game is a a lot different in 2025 than it was in 2010. I don't understand why they hired the guy in the first place.
Knowing them and how they've hired baseball coaches in the last 10 years, they'll probably fire Maineiri after this year, interview nobody, and hire Monte Lee to see if he can turn things around. So if that happens we don't have to worry about a competent South Carolina program until at least 2029.

Yeah, I mean they seem so intent with trying to keep it "in the family" why not hire Powell? D2 to the SEC is a massive jump, but they've swung and missed 3 times in a row now.

Powell does have plenty of head coaching experience now and has won a Natty in D2. We hired a young wide receiver coach to be our head football coach and it worked out pretty well.

That is absolutely hilarious. Can't make up a quote like that.
As for coaches, it'd be a clean sweep imo. Don't know the contract but they'll probably give him another year to see what he brings in.
In being brutally honest, I'm not sure what our record would be with their schedule. Sure, we swept them and beat uga in a mid-week game... certainly better than the cawks but I bet we'd be in the bottom half. Again, brutally honest, we'd be in the bottom in every sport except football, soccer, and women's lacrosse. The question would become, could we recruit better in all sports if we were a member of the sec.
Apologies, not trying to hijack your thread, but it's something I've wondered about.

You sound scared. Clemson would be spectacular in the SEC.

Not unless we recruited better. That's my point. I understand it's popular to think their's bias, but it's no denying that the sec is the best conference in every sport. Unless we upgraded our roster, we're middle of the pack in every sport, men's or women's. Has nothing to do with being scared. Just facts.

No Sir. Not even close. Polls prove it. Not top to bottom. Less uscjr, most head to head has been won by sec teams across all sports. Including football.

Clemson’s SOS is stronger than Carolina’s according to Warren Nolan, and Clemson proved for the first 40+ games of the season that we belong in the top 15 discussion. Two bad series doesn’t take away from that. We’d be just fine in the SEC in baseball.

They could end up with Lemonis. Definitely be an upgrade from old man or Lee boy.

He is like a lot of older coaches who have no interest in coaching but only looking for a big payday before they are fired and get a nice severance.
