Cooler Talk

Spent the weekend down in Colleton County. Had our 55qt. Igloo cheapo cooler packed with beer, ice, hotdog weenies. That ice melted in about 4 hours.
I swore I'd never use that cooler again.
Shopped around for a budget friendly, "yeti-like" cooler.
Found a good deal on a "refurbished (how do you refurbish a cooler)" Otterbox Venture 65 in the "shoreline" colorscheme.
https://www.otterbox.com/en-us/venture-65/cooler/otr56-cooler-65.htmlRugged and durable, our large 65-quart cooler handles anything from camping and hunting to parties and sports teams. Venture 65 keeps ice up to 16 days and is designed with a mounting system for accessories to customize your adventure.
I think it was no more than $200 shipped. It gets good reviews, so fangers are crossed.
I'll report back my results.
Anybody got any good ideas for stickers to slap on it? FBCoachSC®, looking in your direction...

If I hadn't already pulled the trigger on the Otterbox, I'd be considering going with the R-Tic.
Good find.

Oh that sticker is a top candidate.

I've seen some other ones making light of the non-yeti branding that is pretty funny.

We have a Yeti and a soft side RTIC...

To me, the YETI type coolers are too heavy to carry. Every place we go, we take the RTIC. Holds about 12 beers w/ice, keeps ice around 24 hours. I don't need it to last longer than that.
Next time i go bear hunting and need a cold beer 10 days into the hunt, i'll take the Yeti.

of busch light over to a friends house or for toting around betwixt tailgates. This is for storing beer and hotdog weenies for days on end in the scorching Colleton County heat.

zipper on ours was oxidizing, hard to use. I googled solutions, saw that RTIC included a small tube of grease/oil, dug down in the accessory pocket on ours, and HOLY SH!T it was there. Applied lube, zipper works flawlessly now.

Go ahead and get the Yeti. You won't regret it

As long as you're not wanting to TOTE1 it around. I leave mine locked in the bed of the truck. Beer stays cold 2-3 days even baking in the sun.
If you want it to be mobile (which I'm working on looking for a backpack cooler that will hold enough beer to get me through) then look elsewhere.
And for the stickers:

Yeti coolers. They suck now though. Honestly I liked the old Igloo 5-day coolers better because they kept ice like a Yeti, but were much lighter and easier to carry around. Now Igloo is making their 5-day coolers fancier, and more expensive, so I don't know. Still have my old igloo 5 day and use it more than the Yeti I was gifted. Replaced the cheap latch with something that lasts better.

Seriously, saw those Friday and they look nice. I don't know anything about the coolers, but who cares...purple and orange.
