And don't know what they are doing.

Not a single one of you can defend this.

We're only new hires fired? I haven't been following very closely.

Only probationary employees first. Think that's like 3 years? Not sure.

Read some Vet at DVA had worked there 30+ years, recently got a promotion to a new job, and was now fired because with the new job he's probationary for a period, again. Still, a veteran, and a veteran of DVA for like 30 years. Canned because he's technically a "new hire".

Read somewhere that there is a 3 YEAR probationary period.

The probationary period varies from agency to agency and from job description to job description.

I read somewhere that probationary periods are sometimes one year. I’m struggling to remember if some probationary periods are as short as 6 months.

I can say for certainty that some probationary periods are much shorter than 3 years.

A little higher up than that, Chief.***

This is now two Trump administrations in a row who have no idea what the DOE actually does. It exists to ensure we have civilian control over nuclear technology, a successor to the AEC (see Oppenheimer). Rick Perry thought it was all about oil and gas until he because the secretary.

This is gonna be a frequent story.

Musk & Trump are idiots.

No thought. No plan. Just bunch of knee jerk reactions for press releases and headlines.

That was, IMO, an indisputable mistake for Nuclear Security Administration people to get fired.

Trump f’d that one up by not thinking through that Nat.Nuclear.Security is a branch within the (otherwise absurdly bloated) Dept of Energy.

That Trump f’d this one up is supported by his plan to leave undisturbed the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). As you and most others on here know, the NRC oversees nuclear power plants and reprocessing / disposal of depleted nuclear fuel. To my understanding, NRC also assists (maybe oversees in its entirety) the details by which nuclear fuel / nuclear waste gets transported from the using site to the processing site and vice versa.
