Honest question on KB, not a knock
Jan 12, 2018, 9:01 AM

With the caliber of QBs cycling into Clemson now, IF KB was coming out of high school this year would we have extended him a scholarship offer as a QB, not an athlete? Imo, we wouldn’t have...
Very appreciate of what he accomplished Olin 2017, but things change and progress. We’ve gotten better and better at landing the best each and every year. 3 years ago is different from today. Short version, his ceiling may not have been touched yet but he’s also going to be a senior. How much longer do we wait. These young bucks coming in now are far more developed from a passing standpoint than arguably KB is today. If it’s just learning the offense and playbook, I have to believe Trevor, hunter, etc can do so before September.

Ath. Look at Dak Joyner. One could argue Joyner better out of HS than KB and we wouldn't even tell him he would be considered as a QB.

Deam necessary .
you don't have to believe anything. The only thing you have to do right now is make 50% your iptay donation by Feb if you want to contribute to clemson athletics and keep your seats. If not, you don't have to do anything.

Already gave 100% of it and will be in my seat come September...
not picking fights, but your response was a bit of target for my question... was it a back floor question of my commitment as a fan?

No.. I'm telling you the only thing you have to

Do..which you claim you already did.
Now you just sit back and wait untlil ticket requests open up at which time you will have to put in your request.
You don't have to do anything else. Anything else you do is by your choice.

If KB improves as much this off-season as he did last year

... then he's going to be tough to unseat.
He may have hit his ceiling, or he may be ready to move his game to an entirely new level.
It would be crazy to just assume Kelly won't improve.
This is what the coaches will be letting play out over the summer and fall.

I've been a critic of KB's game off of TNet because I felt that he lacked trust in his arm & his teammates too often. I also felt that he doesn't read the DL well on RPOs at all. Example: In the first quarter of the playoff game...he ran one to the weakside with Feaster and if he gave it to Feaster....he runs for at least 7yds but KB kept it and was immediately tackled for a loss.
With that said Kelly B's problems aren't so bad that they can't be fixed with film and practice. He surprised me this year and I too think he will be hard to unseat.

Yeah you right. All these people bashing KB...smh, I mean look at Jalen Hurts, he improved leaps and bounds in his passing game since his first year as the starter and led his team tua national title

Not a knock, then proceed to knock with a hypothetical..

Bryant didn’t sign this year, so what’s the point of a what if. If we didn’t sign him 4 years ago, we would have had no depth behind Watson. And by the way didn’t Brandon Streeter state the best QB would start this coming season. Also, KB is 12-1 as a starter in games in which he played in both halves. So stop acting like he is a huge liability. Just accept the loss to Bama and move on. Take solace in the fact that Bama has had to go through us to win their past two national titles, no other team can make that claim. We won our first national title in 35 years last season and possibly can get more over the next ten seasons. Enjoy the ride man, we have never had a team with this much talent and success. Let it go and see how things play out in Spring ball and fall camp, instead of continually bashing only the third starting QB in Clemson history to have a 12 win season

Well I don't consider your hypothetical to mean you're an enemy of the Paw. Its just off-season banter. I agree with your assessment, even if it is fictitious. In my mind, there is a future hypothetical scenario based on something that either Streeter or Scott said at one point - KB is too good of an athlete to not be on the field somewhere. So even the coaches have off-handedly admitted "hey we're open to change things up." And for that scenario, I have 2 words - Braxton Miller. He was QB all his life until injuries and young gun slingers forced him to move out. Don't know if you've checked lately but ole Braxton is getting paid. Two more words - Vic Beasley. Or 2 more - Tyler Shatley. If I were KB and the coaches said "hey what if we move you to TE/WR/Whatever and you have a better shot at playing on Sunday....";then I would be #ALLIN on that plan too. Does that mean I don't like KB? No way!!! He did wonders for us this year - way better than I predicted. But that doesn't mean a change can't be made for 2018 that would benefit A) the team B) KB as an NFL prospect and C) a younger, more natural talent at QB. We're not at practice or the meetings - we don't know what they think or what they plan. So all we can do is speculate here, accept the decisions they make and cheer them on 100% in 232 days. Go Tigers!
