speaking of generators, I don't have one.

Our significant power outages are few and far between. I'd say more than 24 hrs is significant, and that's by far less than once per yr. We've got gas logs for winter outages and a gas grill. And flashlights. Never got a little one for tailgating. I almost pulled the trigger on the little Honda one a couple days ago, when it was in stock at Amazon for $999. Now a couple vendors have it for $999, and one guy for $899, delivered after 9/20.
I'm thinking if I could run the fridge some, and some lights, a smaller one might see more use tailgating, yard work way away from the house (I have an electric pole saw).
Who's got one? Pros/cons? silly humor?

I wanna go drop a G on something I haven't really researched. I probably should have prepared for hurricane season a little more.

all Honda products hold their value and last forever. If you decide to get one, and then later dont want it, its easily sold.
I use one of mine for tailgating every game. The other is the 30 amp companion. I can parallel them and run my camper A/C.
For power outages, they are great. A gallon of gas lasts almost 8 hours. I have a boat gastank set up that can run both generators together for 24 hours.
I usually just alternate running the fridge, freezer and at night a few lights and the tv. also use to charge electronics.
Pros
everything
Cons
Costs $1K

I use it mainly for bowfishing, sometimes tailgating.....
I think I would rather use a battery for tailgating though, esp since we aren't there to watch tv all day.

Buy an inverter that you can run off of your car battery.
An 800 watt continuous/1600 watt amp max will run $60 or so and will power your refrigerator or a few other things like tv/dvd player/light.
If you have a really new refrigerator with fancy controls, there is a small chance it would be damaged by using an inverter in this price range because the ac wave isn't clean enough.
The true sine wave inverters are more expensive, but might be better for delicate electronic equipment.

Runs quiet, etc.
I've never seen real need for one. And I've lived in areas where the power is out for long periods at times (Richmond).
