I’m done.
Sold most my stuff immediately after the election .
Sold the rest last week.
Just gonna go buy some real estate and not be subject to trumps meme stock playground.
I don’t know if many Americans will take the position I’m taking, but I think a lot of foreigners will. Lotta folks just don’t have confidence in the United States of America like they have for the past 80 years.
Trump has destroyed the confidence in the safe haven for global equity investments.

The best time to buy was during Covid. At this point hope for a recession to buy at a good price. House aren’t appreciating much right now with the economic uncertainty.

I’m not prepared to call this a financial disaster. Corrections happen every year. If it’s bad a year from now I’ll call it bad but for now it’s a correction to me.

A market correction is defined as a decline of more than 10% but less than 20%. So, yes, a correction. Does that help you?? Not sure why you’re “oh lawding” a simple fact.

If I told you I know all the ins and outs of stock trading I would be dishonest. But what I can tell you is almost 40 years of buy and hold, turn off the noise from the news, and stay the course strategy has made me a very wealthy guy. So, you do you and I’ll do me. But against, let’s please see who is right a year from now.

I second this statement above. Dont give up on the market. That said, dont try to "time" the market or "pick individual winners". If that has been your strategy, yeah I can understand why you are upset. Flush that approach! Steadily invest in good growth stock low cost ETFS and Mutual funds and over time you will come out ahead. I am not trying to stick up or defend our current political leadership. But I am advocating for our overall system. We are going to get through this. Putting all of the $#1> talking aside between the political parties, down in our bones we all want our country to be successful. As long as we don't give up on trying to talk to/ and reason with each other this country will work.

Amen brother. Pick those low cost mutual funds, some solid dividend paying strong companies, enough cash on hand to live a year or so without touching investments, mix in a little real estate, find a good trail to hike, ignore the dramatic news and politicians, and just live. That’s what we all want.

I understand that. I was just curious whether you would realize a year from now what a knee jerk decision you made in selling your stocks during a downturn. It’s been said the only people who get hurt on a roller coaster are the ones who jump off in the middle of the ride. That’s what you just did.

I think it will be up in a year for sure. I just don't trust the next few months. I think it would be a good time to buy though for where it will be in 2 or 3 years though. I would be nervous to load up, bug seems like a good time.

The chance of the market being up in a year is 100%. That is absolutely not me trying to forecast. That’s just me knowing history is a good teacher. I’m buying as I always have. People who want to jump off the train because of a little downturn can do just that. Is this a “little downturn?” So far, historically , yes. It’s a bump in the long road. Will we go lower from here? Maybe? Probably? So what? It’s just investing and having the nerves and brains to not sell all your stocks during a correction as the previous poster did. That’s about the worst financial decision a person can make. Some do it out of fear. For others it’s just ignorance.
