bidder and how billionaires and major corporations are heavily involved in this process it just does not mean as much to me as it once did when I thought they were coming to my school because of the coaches and the school itself. Nothing but mercenary sports in college now.

We don't know if it's just the highest bidder. They want money though and a good place to be also. It's not just money, because everybody is paying.

90% are about money! Family pushes youngsters for $$ because future contracts are not guaranteed. So you have big time players like PWoo and Parker that would go to NFL no matter school so they go to great coaching with NIL and my guess is both are gone after this season. Then you get low 4* players which is our norm now because want good coaching and don't get into bidding wars. The high 4* players which is about 100 players go for the $$$ because future is not guaranteed.

They almost all are care about the money, but the point is that they are getting paid wherever they go and the differences might not be as much as you think. Also, they might not go to Rutgers for more when they get a lot playing for Michigan. There are nuances and it's not just the money. They have dreams of the NFL too. They have to respect the coaches and the situation.

True. They are also all human and they aren't all the same. They have families and there other factors. They have areas they want to live. There are relationships with football and outside of football that matter. There are so many variables other than just the highest bidder. People act like they aren't human.

not a fan at all with all this but....

I'm not really mad at the players at all. They can make more money in 4 years than most can make in 20. You hve to take care of yourself. I hate the system and there needs to be contracts to slow all this down. Its not as fun being a fan for sure, but in the real world we could all do this if we have corp's that wanted our skill. loyalty only goes so far when they can get rid of you whenever they want too. Business world or college sports.

Agreed. They shoulder a big part of the blame. I wonder if any lawyer in the halls of the NCAA HQ ever warned that if their authority gets roundly rejected by the courts what kind of free for all will occur in a market with no common ground rules and the chaos that may ensue

But the bottom line is that it’s ruined.
It’s still popular because we’re all addicted to following it. But there are cures for addictions. Just takes time.

To essentially only watching Clemson in a matter of a couple of years. Thats how quickly its coming to and end for me. And most of the guys I used to go to games with, watch ball with are in the exact same boat.

you have to increase competition by dropping restrictions on eligibility, should reduce the cost too

When you see athletes now going to the highest bidder, you realize that athletes that bring in millions upon millions of dollars to schools and help schools recruit students every year are finally getting a piece of the pie. Good for the athletes.
