If we supported the basketball team better, or paid our basketball coach better, then he will coach better. Isn’t it obvious??
It’s totally not fair the love Bakich is getting. Sometimes I just cry and cry like a little baby about how Coach Brownell has to put up with such turd fans.

What is even more impressive to me is how dismal we looked at the beginning of the year. I had no hope for a turn-around this season. I definitely thought it would take a couple of more seasons. But we have progressively gotten better in all phases throughout the year--pitching, on-base % (hitting, walks, HBP), base-running initiative, defense, etc--way beyond my greatest hopes!
Players are definitely buying into Coach Bakich's coaching staff instructions and guidance! Go Tigers!

A couple of difference between the programs worth noting. Baseball has a long history of success where our basketball program has seen short spurts of success followed by a coach bolting for a better job or probation.
Our baseball HC position is a destination job where our basketball HC job is a stepping stone position.
I have said many times that a change involving bringing in a top tier coach like we did for baseball would be great. Brining in a low level guy would only hurt our program so we are better off staying put.

There are definitely differences, but to not try and find a guy who can create the balance of his style of play/recruiting players that fit said system seems wild. We can count many programs that are historically less than us that have recently won conference titles and made final fours. Settling for mediocrity and accepting we can't do better seems like the worst option.

That's the problem. Even Bowden had an Arkansas offer. At the time was equal or better SEC job.

No Bowden didn't have an offer to Arky! His good buddy was the AD and it was just a ploy to get a raise here. No way they wanted him or anybody else the way he was performing here. Some of the Shyatt you see on this board is beyond maddening. LMAOfff

Some of the stuff I see people like you posting is beyond hilarious. Having being officially reported or not, we all know Bowden was gone to Arkansas without a contract extension. We all knew Bowden had pulled a fast one on us with the help of his buddy. We then quickly in turn lost to Auburn in the bowl game. And one year and one ### whooping from Bama and a pathetic loss to Wake later Bowden was fired.
Most of the Clemson fan base was livid over the Bowden extension. It was absolute buuuuuuuuull Shyatt.
Btw, I agree with your original post in this thread. Didn't mean to offend. I just totally disagree with the notion that Arkansas would have hired Bowden. I guess in the end it worked out big time because there is a good chance we wouldn't have hired Dabo if that would have happened. He would have probably gone with tAmmy to Arkansas.

Not even remotely accurate. Our baseball program is definitely not a destination job. Our program is nowhere near a top 15 program anymore.
