2018 Cotton Bowl >> Notre Dame. The severe beating that preceded the next severe beating.
I soon realized I was watching one of the greatest teams any school had ever fielded, and had no doubt they'd go on and win the natty.
I also realized just how over-hyped Notre Dame was, is, and continues to be.
I also got to meet CJ Spiller, who remains one of my favorite players of any team, anywhere.
Best part: On the escalator ride out of Jerry World, a pair of Notre Dame students really classed up the joint when they turned, look up at me and my Uncle in our Clemson gear and said, "Those dumb rednecks. At least we know how to spell."
I replied, "Well, I believe I can spell. 30. That's T-H-I-R-T-Y. And 3. T-H-R-E-E. See? Simple."
They didn't say anything else.

Going to AZ and beating OSU 31-0 on New Year’s Eve was pretty suite. Prior to the game all you saw was OSU fans. Everywhere. Loud and obnoxious. After the game the Buckner fans must have celebrated new years in there hotel rooms, because it was nothing but Tiger fans out ringing in the new year!

OSU fans were sooooooo conceited, condescending, and downright rude. They were hit with a stun gun when they saw what exploded on the field before their eyes. After the game, they had absolutely nothing to say. Nothing. Just the most classless crew i have every seen.

And yet am concerned that so many of their ilk may be choosing South Carolina as their primary residence. Especially the Charleston part of South Carolina.
I guess they figure if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

For me it was 2016 NC game. Got to run around Arizona a bit, even got to the top of camel back.
I've never had a good time at the sugar bowl. Nola is just not my kind of town, maybe if i was 22. And it has the worst pro stadium i've ever been in. It is seriously due for a remodel.

But I've been advised by family members who have been, not to bother.
Nevermind that NOLA is in one of its decade-long slides right now, similar to how it was back in the dirty 80s when they still threw their garbage in the street and the Quarter smelled like hot crotch.
At some point, the city fathers will get the memo from the hoteliers/restaurateurs to clean the joint up, then it'll get better again. And the cycle will continue.
But the Stupiddome? It'll probably stay ratchet.

That was an awesome trip. Had a ton of Notre Dame fans sitting behind me. When the eagle or falcon landed on the Notre Dame fan before kickoff they were slapping me on the back saying it's a sign you guys are toast. I just turned around and told them that was the only highlight they would have all game. They left at the start of the 4th quarter.
Auburn was a good trip. I forget the year but it was when we lost in OT. I was talking so much smack when we were up. Had to eat it when we ended up losing but the Auburn fans were awesome. Great tailgating and good natured banter during the game.

We were all shouting "WEAGLE WEAGLE WAR D A M N EAGLE" to the vast confusion of the Leprechauns nearby.
They were so disoriented. Bless their hearts. And it just got worse each quarter.

1981 to Miami. The Nebraska fans at our hotel had no idea where Clemson was but they found out. Forever 22-15.

2017 Championship Game in Tampa

Group of friends drove down for Saturday to Tuesday trip with the intention of buying tickets last minute. Ticket prices even for nose bleeds never dropped below 2 grand a pop. We had already bought a parking pass so we just walked around the parking lot pre-game and found a huge Tiger fan tailgate. Stood there with all the people watching the game at this huge tailgate. We could see the stadium clearly from where we were. The fireworks at the stadium went off as Renfrow caught the ball. But the TV was well behind live and the ball hadn't even been snapped on the TV. We all cheered after the fireworks went off at the stadium but then everyone had to calm down because we realized we didn't know if it was because we scored or because we were stopped and time ran out and Bama won. Needless to say we erupted again for a second time seeing it on TV. One of the best games I've ever traveled to and never stepped foot in the stadium. Went home with my 2 grand.

1981 trip to the roach. Leaving the stadium as an 11-0 undefeated team was unreal. I may or may not have thrown an orange on the chicken’s artificial turf. Go Tigers!

My favorite all time away game was 63-17. I was at Clemson when we beat them 56-7, but that result was not all that surprising. The 2003 team got hot at the end of the season and even as good as they were playing, I do not think anyone saw 63-17 coming. But it was awesome for only Clemson fans to be in their stadium when it ended.
I do want to call out 2006 at Wake just because of the way we came back. Gaines Adams started the comeback may he R.I.P. Up to that point in the game I Was wondering why we ever decided to drive to Wake that day. Glad we did!
Going to Game #1 this year in Atlanta. Tigers are going to shock the college football world with me in attendance! Let's Go!

I had a similar experience with a rude Notre Dame student. I thought they were supposed to be pious Catholic boys and girls. I was on the rental car bus at DFW and there was member of the Notre Dame band (she had her band uniform in tow). I shared a compliment on the excellent Notre Dame marching band. She shot back that Clemson sucks and Alabama was going to kill us in the national championship. Very rude young lady.

Either the gator bowl this past year or the trip to cootlumbia this year. Both I was older and cared enough as a fan. Both have different reasons why. We won both Gator bowl was cool because got to see this team come back. Win in Columbia was fun because they are quite now. I’d go gator bowl because seeing a stadium I haven’t been to before was fun. While not technically part of the game I went to Orlando afterwards and playing golf and going to Disney was fun. Now getting stuck waiting for a ride at 2 am on New Year’s Day wasn’t and being a zombie the entire ride back home the next day wasn’t. Glad we won.

Natty in Tampa

I was only 3 and don’t remember Clemson winning in 81.
Being in Tampa and seeing them win it all was amazing. Clemson was a 6 point dog that day and not many people were predicting them to win. Having been in Phoenix the year before and having the long bus ride back to Vegas (with many of you) after losing a heartbreaker only made the Tampa Game that much more enjoyable!
After watching all those years of mediocre football under Hatfield and West…..then seeing Renfrow seal the deal….it just not get any better than that!!

Definitely at Auburn 2015. We had a great time on the chartered bus, in the town, the pregame, the game and slept the whole ride back. Was a wonderful trip.
